Can anyone please provide information on what costs I can expect to insure my Z in Vancouver? I'm 32, relocating from the US and have a perfectly clean driving record. Would be looking for full coverage, with probalby extra as I'll be buying a home a few months after relocating. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

 

Last time I checked with insurance broker it was like 2300$ for pleasure driving or 2600 for driving to work... that's with roadstar full discount(43%)/w no ticket...

 

Wow, that's high compared to the US. Would you say insurance costs are higher than the US across the board or just for sports cars? Reason I ask is because my other car is a 98 Volvo wagon. Thanks in advance.

When I lived in B.C a fw year back it was cheap compaired to what I pay in Ontario!

 

Also assuming the $2300 to $2600 noted above is per year correct. Has to be but I need to check just to make sure

 

Man those are some high rates, gotta love the Alberta system, I'm 24 and pay about 1400 for full coverage.

 

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but again I've never lived in Vancouver and know very few people there so it's a complete mystery to me. I would definitely be happier if I could get a $1400.00 yearly premium though Anyone have a good insurance contact I can call to get a quote, as this move is looking more and more like it will happen? it makes HUGE difference which city you live in for car insurance..
for my beater car, when I was in Victoria, B.C. I paid $900 for full coverage whereas it is $1600 in Vancouver area... also what car you drive makes big different..(ofcourse)
oh and those costs are per annual.. and.. check ICBC.com... that's the pretty much monopoly car insurance company ran by the government in bc....

here... as the website won't tell you much about insurance rate... you'll have to call those brokers..

 

04 Roadster, business use, 3 million liability, collision (500 deductible), comprehensive (300 deductible) and roadstar package, including new plates, new plate fee & registration, 43% (maximum) discount (I believe it takes 8 years claim free to get maximum discount), no tickets.... total cost $2284
(however I did recently get a $185 rebate from ICBC)

Whew, yeah that is much more than Northern California. My wife and I will definitely be able to qualify for the discount, but only at the 40% rate I believe since we are foreigners. Difference for me would probably be bumping up the deductibles to try to save some $ but I imagine the difference would be slight. This would probably get offset by additional equipment coverage anyway Lots of good info here, thank you all very much. Oh last thing, do you believe it makes a difference where I live? Meaning is Vancouver proper that much different than say Burnaby or other surrounding suburb?

 

If there is any difference at all, I'm sure its negligible. I think you have to get out of the Lower Mainland before you'll see any significant rate reductions
