I blew my stock clutch at the track tonight.

7.5psi + stock clutch = FAIL, and does it ever stink.

Mine lasted at 6.8psi and a few track days but, when I got the twin plate I realized how much the stocker was slipping off the line.

Yup, it sucks. Last time I was out it was my traction, open diff = one tire fire in 3rd gear. Now, I have the VLSD in there with a 3.3FD so I couldn't get off the line quick. So to compensate I dumped the clutch at 3000rpm, and that is when it melted. I think I know how to launch the car now though..

I think I will take the VLSD out and put it in my stock 3.5 diff, this should help with the lag when launching. Ofcoures it doesn't help when you sit ther for an hour waiting to get a pass in. Everything cools off too much on the turbo side so it relly slows things down in the first gear.

Something to take from all of this, the weakest link will always fail.

Hey guys! Im new to the boards, but i have had my Z for quite some time now. Couldnt help but ask a question since you guys are boosted.

How bad do you guys notice your clutches were slipping? Mines about to get boosted and wondering how much i have to worry about the stock clutch on a 6mt.

Depends on how much boost you run and how you treat your clutch.. If you get more than 5000 Kms on your stock clutch after going to forced induction you're doing well.. Start saving for a heavy duty one now though... eventually you will require one.. If clutch starts slipping your time will be short..

My didn't last long, it finally gave out on Friday at the track. I suggest getting a clutch before boost, a bit easier if you ask me. I ran 5psi for most of the summer, and just recently bumped it to 7.5.

My transmision is beside the car right now waiting for flywheel friction disk .

What kit did you get?

I bought the speed force racing kit, and then a cosworth intake plenum, i was looking at a bunch of other ones but this one made the most sense to me for some reason. More specifically the placement of the turbos, What are you guys runnin?

JWT 850bb kit. Stock clutch was ok at 400whp but I only ran it a few months before swapping to a twin plate.

It looked like you guys had some fun. I would have loved to have come, but it was a bit too far to travel for me and I was working that Saturday. If there is going to be another in the spring, I would try my darndest to be there. (And represent the 370.)
