Default tire feathering and aftermarket wheels

Does replacing the stock wheels with aftermarket wheels and tires fix the feathering issue?

I would LOVE to hear from those of you who have replaced your wheels and tires.

Please let us know if you have the problem the rest of us do.

Thanks,
Macka

I replaced my stockers with 19s at 140 miles so I am curious about that as well.

Also, if you have feathering on your non-stock tires will the dealer do anything for you? I would think they should still pony up what came on the car . . .

Lance G33 - you replaced your wheels 140 miles ago or did you replace them with 140 miles on your car?

If it is the latter, have you had any problems with feathering or your alignment?

...and no, they will not replace anything if you have aftermarket wheels and tires.

Thanks for the reply,
macka

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but the feathering still persists. the only reason why it seems different is because the aftermarket rubber is quite a bit harder than the oem softie 040's (toyos, falkens, michellins, etc). thus they will wear longer and not feather as quickly.

if you go aftermarket then i suggest you get a good relationship going with a local alignment shop and have it checked and re-checked every 4-6 months, as well as a potential flip flop of the fronts at least once a year depending on how much you drive.

overall its not that big of a deal if you are pro-active in managing the situation. get them rims and rubbers!!!

Feathering will still persist but I noticed that with the much wider tires, the tire roar and feathering was less. The best way to combat the feathering is to get an alignment. And the dealer will not do anything for aftermarket tires. I know a guy who had bought wheels before they had the TSB with feathering and he put his stockers back on, took it to the dealer, got the new tires and an alignment for free, and then got back home and put his new wheels/tires back on. LOL

I agree with TT, the wider rims definetly feather less, the car looks better, handles better, and feels better with 245s and 275s
