Default Casual Auto-X in 19's, best width?

I plan to upgrade to 19s. However, I do like to auto-x once in a while. Maybe three times a year. Nothing serious, but I like to have fun now and again. What would be the recommended wheel width? I don't want to kill the sidewall. The fatter the wheel, the wider the tire I can put on it for more grip. But is there a disadvantage? Do I want to auto-X with 19 x 10.5 in the rear?

What would be the ideal wheel width for front and back for best performance, considering I will be on 19's?

imo, get a cheap pair of 17s and use that for autox. Dont know if these fit the G35, but stock Z 17's fit over the brembo's on the track Z. Thats what I'm planning on doing. autox can be very addictive, and you need to consider the cost of replacing tires on 19" wheels

HAHA... damn, I'm gonna have three sets of wheels then. No beater here... I switch over to snows for the winter months. I auto-X on my current 18" tires. The 19's can't be that much more expensive to replace than the michelin pilot sports... right?

I would love to pay for 18" tires . . . 19s are extremely expensive and are limited in options for a 10.5" rear! Although people continue to use 275s on a 10.5, I use a 285/35 and IMHO, its still stretched too much. I can't imagine how stretched a 275 tire is on a 10.5" rear.

I went with Falken Betas (245/35 & 285/35) since they offered a decent stagger and "ok" width for my TE37s.

Here's a pic of the car with stock suspension:
