Default Toyo T1-S in the rain?

I currently have Michelin Pilot Sports on 18's. (OEM setup for the G35)

They handle phenomenally in the rain, IMO. At least for my driving style. Never gave me any problems in the most torrential of downpours.

I plan on getting 19 x 9.5 wheels in the front and 19 x 10.5 in the rear. Most of the affordable packages I've seen advertised by the vendors here come with Toyos. How are these tires in the rain?

They are good in the rain up to a point! if your tread wear starts to get down to the end, you are fuccked. I was running T1s in the rain and my back end kept on washing out to one side and then the other. Make sure that your tread is at least 1/4" or you will be having a very hard time driving. After a day of driving home like that, I immediately went down to my buddy to get a new set.

I would totally disagree with the last post. My T1S's are down to the wear bars are the inside of all 4 tires and wet traction is still phenomenal - we just had a 2 hour long torrential downpour here and I went through very large tracts of water on Northern State without incident

This is what my tires looked like when I was really getting squirlly. In some areas I had around 1/8" tread left. The only reason I said 1/4" was so that people would be cautious, but hey, its your Z not mine. Good luck out in the rain, but be forewarned.

Wouldn't any tire lose wet traction at that point?

I don't think tire compound has any say in wet performance when your practically running slicks in the back.

The problem was not on the Toyos. What could anyone expect after such a tire wear?

those are not even tires anymore...those are about 10k miles beyond the point where they are garbage! No tire would give good traction at that level

Does anyone else with hi-po tires have wear pattern envy?

Goodyear F1 GS-D3 is good tires on the rain also.
got highest rank on wet traction in Tirerack.com (but they don't sell T1 so its not on the list..)
Anyway here is a link:

They are not bad in the rain, I've had some issues with "spirited turns" in rainy weather....but nothing too serious...
