Question for DiscountTire Direct on tire pressure
I've done a bunch of searches and all I got was speculation.
what is the proper air pressure (tire inflation) when going to an aftermarket tire/wheel? I understand it varies from tire manufacturer and load rating of the tire. unfortunately I don't have access to a tire load/inflation table
I have a G35 Coupe. Don't have the weight of the car in front of me.
The car comes stock with 225/45/18 91W and 245/45/19 96W tires wrapped around an 8" wide wheel. Infiniti recommends 35 psi all around.
My aftermarket wheel comes with Toyo T1S tires. 245/35/19 93Y on an 8.5" wheel and 275/35/19 96Y on a 9.5" wheel. According to the sidewall, the 245 tire is reinforced.
I've read many different opinions, from keeping the pressure at 35 psi all around, to running 38-42 psi in the front and 35 in the back, to 33 in the front and 35 in the rear. The reinforced tire in the front may explain the need for a higher pressure to maintain the same load capacity.
Any help you can provide woul be extremely helpful and appreciated.
Thank you,
Vinh

I don't think they are going to be able to give you a definite answer. The tire pressure really is tire and size specific. I would try e-mailing Toyo to see what they recommend for max tread life. If tread life isn't important then lower pressures give you slightly better grip. If handling is important, then you need to find your own liking as far as pressure. I recommend 5 psi over OEM when going to aftermarket wheels.
