on my 2003 track edition...
i need to get some new rear tires for my z...
and i also want to get something little bigger than my OEM
i was thinking something like...
rear
255/40/18 or 255/45/18
front
235/40/18 or 235/40/18
what do you guys think?
and what is the widest width i can go on front and rear?
what size are the track edition's ray's rims? 18x8.0 and 18x8.5 for rear?
thanks

Your best bet would be 245/40/18 up front and 255/45/18 in the back. Handling will be improved, understeer will be reduced and the stagger will be maintained. A 255 cross section is the widest tire you should consider on an 8.5" wheel. Good Luck.

yea i put 255 45 18 on the back but i kept the front stock because the tires were pretty new from the feathering replacement i got not too long ago..... here's a link to a tire size calculator
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
according to this 255 40 18 is .7 inches shorter then the stock 245 45 18 - > same height as the front 225 45 18 and i didn't want to put that much shorter of a tire on keeping the front stock because of the vdc or tcs whichever might be tripped... guess it's up to you what you want to do, i'm not sure exactly what it takes to trip the controls
