Question Installing wheels and tires bought separately ?

Need Help! I am planning on getting new wheels from one store and new tires from another store. Any idea how much a shop charges for mounting them ? SHould I try and make a deal with the wheel store to get tires on them ? Can I just go to the tire store, give them my wheels and ask them to mount em ?

Yep just bring the wheels in and have them mount them...It depends where you go to get the tires to mount them..some store roll that price into the price of the tires..with balancing and all that other stuff...Ive done it a few times.

Nissan dealership in Texas mounts and balances for $15 a tire. I would call around and see who mounts and balances for the cheapest.

be very careful who you bring it to. Especially with after market wheels. I would ony go to the tire shops that other performance shops are taking it to. if money is not an issue I take my car to CEC to have mount and balance, but they charge like $100 to do all 4. I would take it to tire shops that consistently install tires on after market rims like CEC and they are close to you in west la. they are located across century city mall

Bad advice. Don't judge who you pick on how cheap they are. Make sure they guarantee they won't scratch your wheels and get it in writing. It is better to pay $100 then to have to deal with a shop scratching your new rims. If we are talking OEM wheels and you just want cheap, then I would go to the Wal Mart. I know in the time I worked there I never scratched any OEM wheels.

Yeah if you have just a regular Discount Tire I would definitely recommend those. Otherwise both www.tirerack.com and www.discounttiredirect.com have lists of approved tire installers and list prices, but I have seen people have bad experiences even with shops listed there.

OMG...I can't believe how expensive 20" wheels are to mount and balance. They want $160 total to mount and balance all 4. Wow, I figured since 20's are being more and more popular with the SUV's, that the prices would have gone down...oh well.

$40 a wheel is way overpriced. I mean the only part they have to pay for is a valve stem possibly and some stick on weights and you can do 4 wheels and tires mounted and balanced in 30 minutes easy. That means they are making $320 an hour off of you.
