Thumbs up Need tire recommendation for 285X35X19 & 255X35X19

I just ordered my SSR professors 19-10's on Rear and 19-09's on Front. Going to take a couple of months to get but starting to look for tires. What's a good high performance tire that will match up with the above 285X35X19 and 255X35X19. I can find alot @ 275 but seem to be having some difficulty with 285 & 255 combo. Summer perf would be fine as I am located in Southern Cal.

If you have a recommended vendor please provide as well.

Thanks Dunc

Closest to stock diameters would be 255/35F and 275/35R.
Those tire sizes are HARD to find. I went with Michelin PS2. The only other company that I can think of that might actually be worth the money is BFGoodrich KA-TDW. other than those companies, its HARD finding tires in a 255/35/19 size.

Default Doing some homework on g-force

Thanks guys couple of questions
Chris
What's the difference in tread design between BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW and BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KD? Better wear or handling or noise , Rim protection ? The KDW seems to have a slightly better rating on wear and noise with equal handling.
MarquisDeSam
I will get comparisions with Michelin PS2, but was wondering how many miles have you put on them and your impression on handling , noise and wear ? Would you buy again and did you look at the Goodrich g-force? If yes what swung your decision to PS2?

Appreciate the help

I just got a set of BFGoodrich KDW in 255/285 but was also looking at the Conti Sportcontacts. They also come in 255/285 / 35 / 19.

the key to a successful tire combo is to always factor in TCS and VDC. If you have a setup that is beyond the stock stagger too much, you will upset them, and it is a VERY annoying thing to happen. The PS2's are the stickiest tires money can buy IMO, next to the SO-3's. Hard to find a better tire than these two, let alone the advan series, or a straight up drag radial. These don't last long though, so they are more for the perfromance oriented person. I went with PS2's strictly for the size availability. If SO-3's came in a 255 front, I would have gotten them instead.

Depends on your offsets too. I have 9.5 +22 up front and the 255 fits fine, seems to have lots of room. Running 10.5 +22 in the rear with 285, but I had to roll the fenders to get the clearance. I've also seen 295/30 in the rear but that was with the fenders cut. Oh and the wheel on that car was 10.5 +22 also. Hope this helps.

Default BFGoodrich KDW in 255/285

Apharmdb how do you like the performance and are they at all noisy ? I have read mixed reviews on noise but every one seem to rave on the handling and grip.

Thanks Dunc

Don't really notice a noise difference between the 275 Toyo's and the 285 BFG. Seems fairly similar to me, but then again noise never really bothers me. Not sure about grip as I have a 2nd set of wheels I normally use for the track, but I've been lazy in the past and have used the 19's so if that happens, I'll definitely let you know what I think of the performance difference. Biggest difference for me is appearance. The 285's definitely provide more protection, and they are definitely higher on the sidewall. Sometimes I think it looks better than the thinner 275, but from some angles it looks a little think. Perhaps I'm just not used to it yet.

Well I finally got my tires and rims, SSR's with BFGoodrich KDW in 285x35x19 rear and 255x35x19 fronts, Tires and wheels fit like a glove and the handling awesome. Thanks to all for your input and recommendations. BTW no issues at all with TCS, last pic shows new rear tire along side of vs stock 17's

I have the BFG KDW's on order. In fact they are scheduled to arrive via UPS today. With the wheels I got (19" Racing Hart CPF Tunes) I was told that I would have rubbing issues if I went with the 285's in the rear. So I got the 275 rear and 255 front.

Bonz someone gave you bad data on clearance? I don't recall but if your already lowered it would be close and maybe the issue. I have stock suspension still have about about 1.X to 1.5 in of clearance. No issue

Your going to love these tires

My wheels/tires are also going to be coming in today - I'm getting the SF-winnings in custom offsets (9.5/10.5 +29 f/r) with 255/35 and 285/35 KDW2's - I'm lowered on Hotchkis Springs, but I don't think I'll have any problems with having to roll the fenders because of the conservative offsets... but I guess we'll see this evening!
