Default Tires: Do the threads have to match?

Nissan is offering to replace my two front tires since they're BADLY feathered. Anyways, if they do this they won't give me the same Bridgestones my Z came with. Instead, they'll replace them with a new tire Bridgestone has manufactured that will supposedly be stronger.

Since it will be a different tire, is it ok (and safe) for me to have different tread patterns on the front and on the back?

Sorry if my question was confusing. What I meant to ask was if the tread patterns in the front didn't match that back...would that pose as a problem?

They should be fine, as long as the tires are the same on each axle.

I have a 2004 Z. I have no idea what the name of the new tire is. I'm a bit skeptical, but we'll see if this is actually a new tire. I'll keep you guys posted once I find out the name of this new tire.
