Default Stock (non track) rotor & caliper weights?

Any info would be helpful in comparison to a big brake kit.

Examples:
Stoptech
ST40 Calipers 7.94 lbs (3.6 kg)
ST22 Calipers 4.40 lbs (2.0 kg)

I can weigh mine tonight. I bet they are double to triple the weight of the ST40 caliper.

Im just guessing here but id say the stock front non track caliper weighs 8-10 lbs. and he rotor probably weighs under 10 lbs as well. I've never weighed them but Ive takent them on and off alot. Are those stoptech numbers with pads?

Stoptech caliper weights are w/o pads.

Rotor weights both for stock and stoptech 13 - 14" would be greatly appreciated.
Still waiting for answer from Stoptech at this time.

The more important weight is the rotor as that is unsprung weight. When I installed the 13" kit on my car I had big plans to weight both side by side. Alas that never happened, but by feel the stock non-brembo rotors are lighter than the 13" stoptechs.

The stock non Brembo rear rotors weigh 11 lbs. On the same bathroom scale the 2-piece Stoptech rear rotors for brembo calipers weigh 13 lbs. I weighed both of these when I did my rear brake upgrade.

I just threw one of my stock Enthusiast front calipers (sitting under my desk) on the scale...roughly 12.5 lbs (including pads...bracket is integrated into the caliper on these stock parts). Here are our components:

ST-40 Caliper w/ Typical Bracket & Pads
Caliper 8.25
Typical Bracket & Pads 2.00
Total 10.25

ST-22 Caliper w/ Typical Bracket & Pads
Caliper (32mm wide) 5.14
Spring Clip and Pad Pins 0.13
Typical Bracket, Bolts (350Z 328mm Rear) 0.89
Typical Pads (Hawk HPS) 1.07
Total 7.23

I don't know what the front non-track rotors weigh. Here are ours:

332x32 AeroRotor 15.00
Typical 332mm Hat & Hardware 1.50
Total 16.50

355x32 AeroRotor 15.25
Typical 355mm Hat & Hardware 2.50
Total 17.75

Most of the time, we are either equal to, or less than stock weight, with a massive improvement in thermal capacity, better airflow characteristics, firmer pedal, etc. Hope that helps.

Thanks for great info.
Any chance you have weight for stock rear (non brembo) caliper?
Do you have Stoptech 328 x 25 rear kit on your Z?

J Ritt:

I was confused by your sig "StopTech 332mm Front Balanced Brake Upgrade...of course." but apparently you do have a full Stoptech 13"/12.9" kit.

Do you use Titanium backing plates 68 080 0372 ?

Would you please post your tire and wheel sizes with offsets for both street and track setups.

Thanks again.

I don't have stock rear caliper weights.

I only have our front 332mm kit on my car. We used my car to test fit our prototype rear 2 piston kit, and took some pictures of it. I would like the rear kit, but can't afford it right now!

I haven't needed to use the ti backing plates. As I said earlier, I only faded the brakes once at the track. Normally, I don't have any problems at all. If I went to full race slicks on a demanding track, I'd probably get some ducting and the ti plates.

Track wheels and tires- enkei rpo2j 17x9. I can't remember the offsets for the life of me. 275/40 yokohama A032R's all around.

Street wheels- rays gram light 57 pro. 18x9 F 18x10 R. Offset is custom...25mm front and rear.
