Hassles with 20" Axis Milanos
Where do start. Today was a hassle at the tire shop. I ordered 20" Milanos on Monday, 8.5 and 9.5 and Nitto 55 tires. 275/35 and 255/35. Well after getting them mounted and driving away, I hit a small bump and rub, rub. By the way, I have the Eibach springs installed. I had to drive straight home, (2 miles) praying that I would not ruin my brand new tires. I busted out the air compressor and cutting disk and went to work on the rear fenders. I cut a bunch of small perpendicular cuts in the inner fender about 1/2" apart and then used the rubber handle of a hammer to gently bend each tab upwards. It seems to work so far, I have test driven only about 3 miles. The fronts rub when I turn the wheel left or right all the way. It is slightly rubbing the inner plastic splash guard. The wheels look amazing. I will post pics tomorrow. I also installed my Crawford cast plenum this evening. Seems quicker, but lt has a slight hesitation if you give it gas sharply from idle. What a day. Like I said I will post pics tomorrow.
By the way the wheels were $1540 plus tax and the tires were $900 plus tax.

TIME AFTER TIME AFTER TIME, SAME OLD STORY. Why didn't you read first then buy your rims. This web site along with about 5 others provide sooooo much info on rims, offsets, tires and people still order the wrong thing. Your 20's with those tires are totally wrong. Good luck cutting the car up trying to get it not to rub. Even though...those are some nice wheels.

I did do my homework. I was looking for info in all directions. Finding info on 20" wheels and tires was scarce. I found a few posts of people running the 255/35 and 285/30 setup, however, that setup makes the rear tire smaller in diameter than the front. I went with the 275/35 thinking it to be not as wide and would not have rubbing issues. The problem is with the aggressive offset of the Milanos, +15 and +20. Since this is the first set of 20" Milanos, I was assuming,(I know, never assume), that I would be ok. I sent a request to Chris at Discount and he said the 275/35 would be fine, but he did not know what offset, in his defense. Anyways, I got the fenders rolled, no issues in the back. The fronts rub on large dips at speed, damn California highways. They seem to only rub on the plastic of the inner fender well, though. I don't think that it will damage the tire, not anything noticeable right now. I will definitely go with 245/35's in the future. I dropped the car off yesterday to have my Procharger installed, so no pics, sorry. All that I can say is that they look amazing!! Compliments and gaukers are abundant. Overall, I am very satisfied. Now, I cannot wait until Weds. or Thurs. to feel the power. I have spent a lot of time and money on this vehicle and I love every moment of driving. I promise pics will be on the way. Thanks to all that tried to assist me with the tires, much appreciated.

I have 20x9 & 20x10 iForged Evos w/ 255/35 (f) & 285/30 (r). No TCS/VDC issues & rubbing. I've been running on these for well over 3 months now with several long distance rides. Not sure of the offset since It was simply just specified to ensure fitment for BBK I plan on doing in the future. I have a 2" lip in the front & 3" lip on the rear. Badmonkey_1, could you please post pics of your setup? I'm just curious to see how the offset made it difficult for you in fitment & what you did to resolve it.

very nice car. I was wonder what is your offset on your wheels? I just brought set wheels. My offset is +32 in the front and the back is +35. I was thinking to buy 255/35/20 and 285/30/20. would this work? can you email me, mr2vi30@yahoo.com
thanks

btw, the +20 offset is fine for a 9.5" wide wheel... it should not be the sole cause of rubbing... anything higher and the wheels would look sunk-in.... anyway I agree though, the drop probably contributed most to the problem
either way, the problem would have been solved with a 275/30/20 tire
