Default What is the widest wheel you can put on the Z

I was looking at wheels again. I have 19 inch Axis supermesh whels on it now and I was just wondering what was the widest wheel I can fit on the Z, but on an 18 inch size?

it all depends on the offset.... and how much you want it to stick out of the fender, and if you want to roll your fenders...

I dont think you'd be able to fit more than an 11inch rear with less than a +28 because it'll rub agaisnt the suspension... and you'd definitely have to roll your fenders with any offset less than that.

oh and tires would make a difference too. Im not that educated on wheels so someone else probably has a better answer for you!!

good luck!

My guess is 275/295, without rubbing, but it depends upon the rim and tire, as well as whether you have a BBK - and I'm still in the process of finding out definitively. I want to go with a 255/285 setup on 9.5"/10.5", but am still trying to find out how. The answers are all over the board, and it's confusing. What size rims/tires/offsets are your Axis Supermesh?

I have 9.5 on the rear and I think they are 8.5 on the front I was just wondering what my limit was for the rear. I think the front are fine, but when I look at the rear tires it looks like it could go a little wider. I don't know if it screw up the handling of the or anything, but if I could go wider I would like to.

9.5 with +21 offset with 245 tires [Front]
10.5 with +24 offset with 275 or 285 tires [Rear]

If you want to have bigger than 10.5, you will have to modified or have widebody to cover it nicely.

I run 265/35-18 (9inch wheels) front and 295/35-18 (10.5inch wheels) back.
Note this provides ~.7" stagger and doesn't **** of VDC. They fit prefectly and don't bug out of the fenders at all.

To run 265s in front you need ~31mm offset. 275s would fit ;however the stagger will be too small to keep VDC happy with 295s in the rear.

To run 295s in the back you need ~43mm.

Less offset front and back will simply make your wheels bug out more and interfere with the fender lipt if lowered.

G3po: are you able to post pics of your car, or give us a link? I'm curious what your set up looks like. Perfect in one person's eye isn't always in another ya know....

Brembo car had 18X11's with a conservative offset.

With the right offset you can probably fit even more underneath.

I've heard the Z could run a 315 series tire in the rear, with, as Mike above stated, a conservative offset.

check out page 2 on my cardomain:

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/690990

I fit these as a joke just to see if it would work and they do!

18x12.0 et22 rear w/255/35/18 tires , these will not rub on the stock fender!

18x10.0 et22 front w/235/35/18 tires, these would have worked if I didn't have the brembos, I had to use an 18mm spacer to clear the brakes and they still fit just barely, but didn't look safe to drive.

I've also seen 315's in the rear of a Z on 18x11.5's but that car had the fender rolled (and maybe pulled just a bit)

That is correct its all about offset,i have the sbc cpftuner 19's...front 9inch and rear is 10.5 with 265/295-30-19 set up and no rubbing.most tire places would not sell me tires bcuz they said it would rub and they dont.btw my car is lowered abt 1.5....just a heads up i did notice my car seems a bit slower. The handling on the other hand is much better, car feels so planted.its tt time.

Sorry , I don't have pics with me, but it looks pretty OEM. I sway towards "un-bling" and more towards function. My wheels are SSR Comp-Hs.
It's hard to find a set of wheels with the width , offset at that reasnable cost point. Oh BTW , my car is a G35C, but the wheel clearances are comparable.

Yeh , you can go larger , but you'ld **** of the VDC. There is an easy extra inch or more of growth rookm in both my font and back. IF 305/315s came in the right diameter , I'd be all over-em. But it's a reasnable compromise.

Al,

what brand of tires did you go with. I have the same size and offsets on my racing harts as you ... so I would like to go with that tire setup as well.

Let me know man. thanks

TT time ... yummy
