Well recently I had my GT-R LSD installed by a respectible shop in the Queens, NY area. When I first recieved my car, he had explained to me how the turning would be stiff and it would need getting use to. However recently there has been a loud audible grinding noise that seems to come from the rear. While the manual states that a noise is heard due to the LSD itself, I have experienced mild slipping and feel rather uncomfortable driving around due to the noise and the loss in control of my 350z. I was wondering if anyone else has this same problem or is it just a problem with the installation.
PS. I searched the forums already and did not find any topics on this subject.

If it's a clutch type LSD then the grinding should be normal so far as I've heard, if it's viscous then it sounds like you should get it checked out, sorry, just my 2 cents. Hopefully someone who knows can leave an answer.
My noise is minimal but I notice the handling differences. I did a proper break in by doing figure 8's for 20 minutes. Once it's warm it doesn't make any noise.
The car will have a tendancy to push/pull when you get on and off the throttle because the wheels are trying to spin at the same speed. Try yours out for a while and then change the setting to low if you still feel it's too strong. That's what I did.
You can also try some high quality gear oil such as redline or moble1 to quiet it down.
Once you hit the track you will be very happy you got this mod and all the downsides it shows on the street will be a distant memory.

Just curious if either of you notice the push pull effects that I mentioned. I went for a drive in the hills this weekend and you have to pay attention to keep the car in line sometimes.

I have that feeling all the time when driving. Scares the hell out of me driving on the highway, cause i can feel the steering wheel jerking a bit. Well I have to break it in I guess as well, but just wondering is it possible to changet setttings without lifting the car and taking it out or can it just be done easily? Thanks for the input though, maybe the LSD is just poorly made?

Try the low setting. I think you’ll find that more livable on a daily basis and just as effective on the track.

Like mentioned, the clicking, clunking, popcorn noise is normal.. even at the lowest setting of 60% I have had my installed for almost 50,000 miles and the noise is still there... You should change the fliud after about 500 miles and I reccomend Redline 75/90.. I have tried royal purple, amszoil, lucas, and the redline seems to be the best...

I installed mine last week and I got only 100 miles on it right now, instruction book says to drive 180 miles with 60mph speed limit to break in. Mine set at the lowest 58ft/lb setting. It only whines when decelarating. In slow corners you can only hear the rear tires dragging/scrubbing against the pavement. No noise when accelarating. I hope the whining sound don't get any louder that would be an irratation in the long run.
