ok so this morning my tire pressure sensor goes off...no big deal it wasnt flat just right around 28 psi. so i pull into the exxon and fill it back up and go to work. after work i check the pressure and its lower than when i filled it but still drivable. i drive home and get the car in the air to change the tire and put the spare on. i take off the lugs no problem but then the tire simply wont come off the bolts. i must have tried for about 30 mins straight nothing! so i call AAA which my dad has. the guy comes out and hits the tire on the top and again on the bottom. MAGIC the tire comes off. it never occurred to me to hit the tire towards the brakes as opposed to pulling it towards me.

anyhow if anyone encounters the same problem maybe thisa will save you some headache!

Yep, that is a common technique at a tire shop. It is caused by the rusting where the wheels mounts to the hub. There were some cars that I had to swing a BFH as hard as I could at the back of the tire to get it off the hub. One piece of advice is when you are using these techniques make sure you leave at least one lug nut on so the wheel doesn't fall off the car.

Yeah i checked and it is a little rusted...is there anything we can use to clean off the rust and stop it from rusting over again? like a spray or something?

I use my Dremel tool with a polishing or burnishing wheel to scrape off the rust and get the hub nice and shiny.... I don't know a good way to keep it from rusting up again, other than painting it...

A friend of mine got a flat a while ago, and since they were deprived of basic car knowledge I had to drive out to help them change it. I got all the lug nuts off and the damn thing wouldn't come off. I was scared to pull too hard since it was on one of those crappy jacks that come with the car. Eventually I got frustrated and kicked it, and it just came right off.
I've been wondering ever since if there's a way to keep it from rusting.
