Default Wheel Quality

Just a few questions if anyone can answer these for me. I'm in the process of just "window shopping" for new wheels. I don't actually have any plans to buy them until next year, so I still have some looking to do.

While looking around, I notice these two threads:
Axis Hiro Breaking #1
Axis Hiro Breaking #2

I thought those Axis Hiros were pretty good, but after reading both threads, many people posted either "Axis sucks" or "you get what you pay for." This leaves me the question, what constitutes a good quality wheel? Is there a price range that indicates a good wheel? What are the top name in wheels? I've been looking at Volk, Enkei, and PIAA so far. I know Volks are generally considered top of the line, but what about Enkei & PIAA?

Any product that can survive the test of racing is the one I'd put on my car. OZ, BBS, SSR, Rays come to mind.

I would never buy wheels like Axis, Konig, TSW or anything of that sort.

Buy a qulity wheel like JETPILOT listed.

I agree

BTW, Enkei provides wheels to the Formula 1 Mclaren-Mercedes team

My grandfather used to say.... I'm too poor to buy cheap things. Spend a little more and buy quality in the begining, you will save yourself money, and be happier in the long run.

Nissan put a lot of quality in our car with aluminum suspension compnenets, aluminum hood, carbon fiber driveshaft, Aluminum engine block and heads. It's a shame to put cast wheels on this car. Wheels should be an upgrade not even par.

Respect (to 350z owners with forged wheels, and more respect to SSR owners with SSF (semi solid forged) wheels.

What about G-Games wheels? I know they are made by Ray's Engineering (who also make Volk Racing wheels). Are they top notch?

WORK makes a quality wheel that is highly used for drift/racing in japan. You don't want to replace your wheels because of bad finishes or weak structure, you want to replace then because your style has changed or you slammed a curb. From personal experience it's better to get what you want when you can, rather than less expensive wheels when you want. enjoy the search

It seems to me that Axis Hiros are an improvement over stock wheels. So if you are changing from stock to aftermarket, you should see a boost in quality. Anybody disagree?

I'm getting the AXIS HIRO's. I can't afford a 3K in rims and tires. I will send them back if anything happens.

I have a friend who owns an IS300 with 19" hiros and he has had them for over a year; they are fine.
