17" Chrome wheels on the enthusiast?? What u think?
Chrome wheels do not belong on sports for several reasons;
1. Chroming the wheels adds to the unsprung weight of the car. This added weight effects suspension transient response.
2. The acids used in the chroming process weaken the alloy in the wheel.
3. Over time the inner lip chromed area of the wheel may start to blister and occasionally cause air leaks.
4. Dealers charge up to $2,000.00 as an upcharge. Chroming a wheel is about $50.00 per wheel (wholesale). Dealers laugh all the way to the bank.
5. Real sport car enthusiasts mentally ridicule people who put chrome wheels on Porsche, Corvettes, or any sports car for that matter.
6. Lastly, in my opinion their ugly and attract too much unneeded attention.
No intention of offending anyone or stepping on any toes, but 1 through 4 are empirical. 5 and 6 are my opinion. And as we all know opinions are like A. holes. Everybody has one.
