Question about Volk LE37T Gloss Black
hi guys
i just bought a set of volk le37 gloss black and i have this unusual marks(looks like water marks) on the lips. i try to clean them with windex, wheel cleaner and water but i couldn't get them off. i talked to the vendor and they told me it's normal.
does anyone have same wheels and check if this is normal?
thanks.
Here is the actual picture! i try to point it out but it's kinda hard to see in picture. but it looks obvious in person!

Looks like some sort of surface haze like hard water stains or condensation. Maybe claybar it? I'm not sure what I would do b/c aren't volks clearcoated with some special clear coat that no one in the U.S. can replicate?

You can get a clay bar at any local autoparts store like Autozone, Pepboys, Strauss. Just go in the detailing isle. A claybar is exactly what it is, a bar of clay made to take off tar, stains, bugs, imperfections, water marks on a car. If the imperfections are on top of the clear, there should be no problem taking out those water marks with the clay bar.

you can also try toothpaste
toothpaste is very slightly abbrasive, if those are just stains, it should erase them without damaging the clearcoat. Try it on a small uncuspicuous area, if it works you can do all the lips.
I had my lip all stained by some crap product that a shop put on. No amount of soap and rubbing took them out. toothpaste got it out in an instant and lip came back looking like new.

i think it's under clearcoat.
the surface is pretty smooth and it doesn't feel anything.
my vendor told me most of the forged wheels are like this but they are still talking to mackinindustries about this issue.
i was wondering if anyone has same exact rims.

i bought the wheels and tires as a package.
i bought it from importshookup.com and they told me mackin has to approve it's defect or something... so still waiting for approval from mackin.

sorry to hear about your problem...but, could you please post some pics of the wheels on your car? how do you like them compared with the gunmetal LE37Ts? i'm trying to decide which to get: gunmetal or gloss black.
thanks in advance.

Yes pics please, those rims look amazing in gloss black. If the weight of them is right, I will need to pick up a 4-pack.
its just oxidization, with normal wear the chrome will haze anyway
try some Mothers Billet Metal Polish, that will remove the layer of dirt/hardwater on the surface and buff to a high gloss
this is something you will need to do often as the wheel lips will cop the worse of road grime and brake dust
