Ride Harshness going to 19" rims??
What is the general opinion here regarding ride quality if I were to go to 19" rims? I have 17" rims now and feel the ride is fine. If I went to 19" or possibly 18" rims, how is the ride quality going to be? I know the 350Z is a very firm riding car to begin with, so please give opinions only if you actually have 19" rims.
Thanks in advance!!

bigger rim diameter means small profile tire= harsher ride. Not bouncier, but able to feel road more. Potholes...ect.

I just put on 19 in wheels with 245-35-19 on the front and 275-30-19 on the back and the ride really isn't any more harsh or rough then it was before. I think it has a lot to do with the quality of the tires, I have toyo T1S's. Hope that helps.

When I switched to 19s from my stock 18s, I didnt feel much difference in the ride, but the handling was definately sharper due to the shorter sidewall. Ive driven a Z with 19s and Koni shocks that actually rode better than stock (even with drop springs).

About a month ago I switched from the stock 17" wheels to 19x9 in front and 19x10 in rear using 245/35 and 275/35 BFG KDW-2 tires, respectively. With stock suspension, there is a slight difference in ride but it is not more harsh. The stock setup seemed to have had reverbering vibrations when going over breaks in the road, like freeway expansion joints. Sorta felt like hitting a single bump several times in rapid succession. I have not noticed that same vibration with the 19" setup I've got; hit a bump once that that's all I feel. Aside from that, there's the handle benefits of going to a wider, lower profile tire.

i went from the stock 17's to 19's with toyo t1r tires. but at the same time also switched to tein flex coilovers. but i can say that going from the tein setup with stock 17" rims to 19" rims with the teins actually felt better. i'm guessing the tire makes the biggest difference.

I have 20's and my Z rides very smooth. I kept the stocks springs and it sits perfect. I have 20 x 8.5 in the front with a 245/35/20 and a rear 20x10 and with 285/30/20.

I went from the stock 17's to 20's, and to be honest there was no much of a difference in ride quality. I was expecting a dramatic diff, most of my friends have not noticed a diff in ride quality either. I'm running 245/35/20 and 275/30/20, so that should be about the same profile you be running w/ 19's.

I went from G35C OEM 17" to 19" and the ride is stiffer by a little...it is not noticible if you dont drive it everyday. It is also a little louder...maybe it is caused by the larger contact patch
