Default Redoing painted aluminum wheels to polished aluminum??

Anyone seen or done this?

I want to take a set of the oem painted aluminum wheels and take the paint off and polish the aluminum then put a clear coat on top of either powder coat or enamel clear coat, yet I'm not sure what is the best way to go about this whole project.

any suggestions?

I asked the same question about a month ago and no one really had any thing to really say. Well, a number of "look in the phonebook" type answers that weren't helpful at all.

Good luck, of all the questions asked on this site, that seems to be the unanswerable question. I know it doesn't make sense, but there you are.

you are going to have to sand the wheels smooth with progressively finer grit and then use polishing compounds with various buffing wheels to get a polished look. I've done it with smaller pieces and it is a PITA. It'll be easier if you have forged wheels rather than cast, as cast wheels are very rough from the casting process. You need to sand them down smooth. For the time you would spend i think you should just get a nice set of aftermarket polished wheels or get yours chrome plated.
