t1-s. imo they both handle equally well in both wet and dry conditions. however, the t1-s is by far the lighter of the two. my 2 cents

I had to come to this decision earlier as well.. for our CLK430 Cab, for my GS400, and now for the Z. This is the difference after researching 3 seperate times (and using both tires). The T1-S is lighter and a slightly quieter tire, it also has a slightly better ride quality. HOWEVER, the S-03 seems to have better road feel and IMO seems to break more smoothly at the limit (easier to feel the limit coming). The S-03's also seem to maintain their quality even after the tire wears for a bit, whereas the T-1S seems to get louder after you put miles on it. So basically each one has positives and negatives. For my Z I decided to go w/ T-1S's mainly because I like the tread pattern and also because I figure I went w/ lightweight TE-37's so I might as well go all the way and get the lighter tires as well.. The difference is between 1-3 lbs depending on the tire size you go with.

for a set of tires for an 18" app, the t1-s weigh in at about 104 lbs total for all 4 tires. the s-03 weigh in at about 122 lbs total for all 4 tires. that's a pretty big difference considering the amount of time you spend looking for that rim that's just 1 or 2 lbs lighter than another.

any pics of the tread patterns? why does everyone get s03's then? it seems like that's all that anyone talks about. what are the prices - is that a difference? what is THE tire to get for the Z? On my Grand Cherokee the tire everyone gets and rates the highest is the bfg a/t ko and i was curious for the Z

I have the Yoko AVS ES100 on my car right now and really like them so far. But it has only been 2 weeks. I have NEVER seen anyone say anything bad about the S03's. I am a board ***** and hit on the wrx, honda, vw, and this board and everyone likes that tire....

one of the biggest reasons? the t1-s doesn't get as much user coverage as the s-03...mainly because tire rack doesn't sell them. tire rack has a pretty large chunk of the tire market, so what it doesn't sell doesn't get as much coverage. if you go to places like www.twinturbo.net, you'll see the t1-s is one of the favorites among the z'ers.

Go to www.toyo.com and check the sizes available. Check your local tire shops, they usually can get them through their local distributors.

Sorry.. but the Nitto's in my own experience don't even begin to compare to the S03's or the T1S's. I've found that they don't grip as well, are louder, and the only thing they are superior in is their lower price.

personally i havent experienced with nittos yet, but my friends got some on his vr4 and he said they are very good though

I hope I'm not taking this off topic...but could someone point me in the right direction? I like the Toyo's....but they don't come in sizes to fit my needs. Is there a similar quality wheel with as much value or more in a 285/40/18 or 285/35/18 along with a 255/40/18?? Thanks

I'd have to look at some tire specs and websites. I'm surprised the T1S doesn't come in the appropriates sizes.

BTW, I got a phat *** deal on my Toyo T1s. Over here in San Jose. They ship out so I don't think they would have a problem hooking up guys here with Toyos.

Mine are awesome. I was absolutely amazed at the weight as well as dry and wet handling of these tires. I have read the same "breaking point" issue as mentioned above.

But I like my Toyos. I got them cause they are lighter as well. Like significantly without sacrificing handling or sidewall integrity. Plus these were proven in Speed Vision a couple years ago. hehe.

Also, is there any place that list actual numbers of performance for Toyo T1-s v. SO3's? Kind of like the way they have them in Tirerack? Or at least an article comparing the two?

The question you've posed is going to be a hard one to answer. A lot of it comes down to driver preference as well. So hard numbers like 60-0 braking and such as well as later g's on a skid pad might be hard to find. I do know there have been magazine articles out there.

It really is a toss up for these two brands. I'd suggest looking for articles online. But good luck. hehe. This is a question that plagues all mankind. Some people are loyal to the Bridgestone experience and some to the Toyo.

No problem. I'll pm you. It's the same dude, driven. He works with club racers and ****. So that's why we get good deals. He's my RX7 hookup.

He might be able to get you the bridgestones for a better deal than tire rack. but it's kind of seasonal they told me. Depends on the local distributor. if they have a lot of them or not cause tire rack sells **** real cheap.

Anyone able to comment on my sizing problem with the Toyo's mentioned above?? Am I wrong in that they do not come in appropriate 255 and 285 front to rear for the Z staying close to stock diameter? If this information is correct...what is a comparable value and quality tire that does???

As a (much) lower cost alternative, I think I'd be willing to try out the new Kumho Ecsta MXs. They've gotten outstanding reviews (at TireRack) from Corvette, Mustang, and M3 owners, as well as from the TireRack staff test drivers...
