for all of the "experts" giving out the 20mm offset bogus info

Luke
Would it be a good choice for me to go with Rear=18" and Front=19" Te37¡¯s for somewhat daily driven.
With the right offset and tire sizes will I experience any suspension problems in the long run?
Thanx

We have even installed a 19x11 with a 295 rear tire on a 350 with no issues because the offset was correct ....
Could you tell us what wheel , offset and if the tires you mounted were 295/30 or 295/35?
Thanks,
Bob

10" 40mm offset positions the centerline if the wheel 1.5" inboard the mounting surface ... with 3.5 out board and 6.5 inboard
as you can see with the 22mm offset wheel a large majority of the additional width is going to the out board side of the mounting surface (which will add undue torsional force on the bearings and change the scrub radius of the suspension) as opposed to the 10" 40mm offset which has a much better balance for the added width and will offer more tire/fender clearance.

1) only the track has 8.5" rims. and that is the rear only.
2) did you measure that 1.25" (32mm), or are you pulling the info from somewhere? like guessing the offset and converting to inches?
3) if you did measure the rims at TireRack, please tell me what the offsets you got for the non-track 18x8.0, the track 18x8.0, and the track 18x8.5 (if its not the one above).
thanks

Luke, I like your example of 40mm offset versus 22mm offset for the rear wheels. Your example places the wheel closer to the suspension for the recommended 40mm -- is this closer placement an issue?
In any case, if you were to have 22mm offset on the front, putting a lot more of the tire to the outside I can see the steering becoming much more unstable/darty/sensitive. I don't know how much of that I could live with.
How about sticking with a 30mm offset?

However, with a +22 up front do you honestly think that a mere 8mm (from the stock 30mm on the track models) makes a notable difference? Also doesn't going with a higher offset (greater than 30) in front increase the understeer that the car already has? Or do I have it backwards?

I've been running into lots of trouble finding the right off-set for the Volk GT-N 18x9 in front and 18x10 in back. After all the research, I still have conflicting offsets. Mackin Industries says go with 37 offset front and back. Where as Kenisis went with a 25 offset front and back. Kenisis had a 350z at SEMA with 18x9 and 18x10's. Who's right? I guess it really doesn't matter. It's only a 1/2" difference, right? If it will be lowered, I guess I should go with the 37 offset to make sure the wheels and tires won't rub the fender.

I have to say Luke is a very knowledgable salesman and knows what he is talking about. I am sponsored by Volk Racing (Mackin Industries) and I told them I wanted the biggest lip in the rear. Well, anyway we were talking and he was telling me that I needed to role my fender in the rear. Tire size is 275x35x19. And everything Luke said they told me the same thing. I just wanted to share that and give Luke some backup for those who think he is wrong. Anyhow, good info Thumbs Up!
Thanks Luke for sharing vital information!

for what size again??
and any wheel I order from tirerack, all sales associates will provide me with the "perfect" offset? Can you guarantee that a 17"x9" rim will have a tried and tested off set

i don't know, but i am running volk sf-winnings 19mm fronts and 17mm rears with a drop and rolled rear fenders and have no problems.
i also have 22mm fronts and rears on 19x9.5 and 19x10.5s.
these were the recommended sizes and offsets for these wheels if ya went with the sizes from volk.
