Default Tire Help Please!!

I just bought a set of 18" Nismos but Im having trouble deciding on tires. Money is tight so I dont wanna spend more than $600. Ive been looking at the falken FK-451's but Im not sure how good of a tire they are. Anyone have any other recommendations?? Or should I wait till I have money to buy good tires??

I just got a set of FK451. While i was doing my research on this tire, it seem to have gotten good reviews for being inexpensive and handles great for the price. But you should note that the Falkens are "skinnier" than other tires of the same size rating, like BFG.

Other alternative would be the Kumhos...

Personally, I'd wait until you can have more cash. Good tires will run you $800 to $1000. Ones to consider are Toyo T1 Rs, Michelin PS2s, Bridgestone S 03s.

Check the following for others:

One thing you will to decide is if you want to stick with OEM sizes. My first choice was Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 but they did not come in OEM size for front. So I bought Toyo T1 rs.

falkens are pretty good got them on my front rims. they are skinnier than the usual for their size. ie. the 245/35/19s that i have up front look a little stretched.

I have these and think that they're a great tire for the price. Should be within your budget as well.

or save the money up for the Advan Neova AD07. They rank highest in the ultra high performance category according to tirerack tests.

Just got me a set of those for the IS =D.

The nittos will run me almost $700, I just priced them. What do you mean by the falkens being skinny? Im looking at a 245/40/18 & 275/40/18 set up.

Unfortunately, not alot of choices for $600. I would look hard at the Nittos in your price range even if they are slightly more. I have the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3s on my Nismo wheels and love them. When I got mine Michelin didn't make a PS2 the correct size for the rear, but I understand they do now. Those are very nice tires too as are the Bridgestone S 03s. Realistically you are looking at $800 to $1,000 to get high performance tires in the sizes you need from most manufacturers as someone else said above.

Default Of all the performance and bling-bling stuff ...

that can possibly be put on a 350Z, the most important is the tires. The car rides on about 36 square inches of rubber. That’s all. If I’m on a “350Z budget,” the last thing that I want to take short cuts on are tires.

Hold up a convenience store if you must, but buy some tires which are worthy of the car.

I had the Nittos on my stock rims, and I think they were a great tire for the price. Whether you decide to wait and save for better tires, I think depends on what you are looking for out of the tire. Basically, 'better' means stickier (more traction), right? If you are just driving back and forth to work and around town, a tire like the Nitto that lasts a long time might be the better tire for you. If you are looking for a higher performance tire, then you should probably wait and get something better, but remember, most of the high performance tires will also wear out faster, meaning not only do they cost more now, but this cost will also come up more often.

Ebay has new Dunlop 9000 tires 265 40 18. $280.00 for two tires. I have never tried these tires so I can't testify to their performance. You can read reviews on these tires at tirerack.com. The price for these tires normally run about double this amount.
