Default Volk owners and Road Trips!

About to go on a road trip in my Roadster to South Texas. Should I leave the Volks on or put my stock 18's on just for the road trip. I kind of want to show off my car and wheels to my family but do not want any road scratches on the 2400 mile round trip. Thoughts?

stock 18's. Those tires cost less for sure.

But then showing off... hmm priceless.

i run my volks daily...my Z is my daily driver. i have no wear on my wheels at all...

they will not loose value on a 2400 road trip as long as you just don't hit any median curbs at the toll booths....

I left mine on for the 1000 mile round trip from Boise to Seattle this summer. There are a couple little nicks on the lip, but I don't know if it's from that trip of just driving it around normally. I don't worry about that stuff too much, the stuff I can't control. I mean, I bought them to have on the car, and to drive on, and as far as I can tell, the only way to avoild having anything happen to them is to not use them. Seems dumb to spend over $3000 and not show them off.

Pardon me, but why oh why would you want to change to stock just for a road trip??? I've done numerous 1K trips and this thought never occurred to me. They're paid for right?? Then run 'em!

So you say you bought your SF Challenge with tires for ~$2K? I'm assume you bought them used? If not, how did you get that deal?!?!?

To stay on topic, I've been on a 2,500 mile road trip in my friends car with expensive wheels. Every time we got gas he would get out and check his rims for damage. They made it through the trip just fine. Keep in mind we were mainly on the highway and didn't take many local roads or pass through toll booths.
