Default 275-Width Tires On '06 GT 19"x10" Rear Rims...

It's might be too early to ask this, but could a 275mm tire be installed on the rear OEM GT '06 wheels instead of the 265mm? I would like to get a pair of 275/35/19s if so.

I don't see why not! I had 275's on my stock track rims, which were only 8.5" wide. And I have 275's on my Volks, which are 10.5" wide. There is no reason you can't fit 275's back there. You can probably go even bigger!

Thanks for the input, Steve! That's good news. I would even like to go to 285-295 if that really is possible. My main concern is the available space in the rear wheel wells.

285's should work without any problems. Many people here are running 285's. I'm not sure about 295's. One thing you have to consider is your future plans. If you are never going to lower the car, the wider tires will probably be ok. If you plan to lower, you may have problems if you go too wide. Rolling the fenders may take care of this, and you may or may not have some rubbing issues. Like I said, I'm running 275's in the rear, and am lowering my car with the Hotchkis springs (9/16" drop F, 3/4" R) on Monday, and shouldn't have any problems with fitment or rubbing. I would like to go with 285's next time though, and may have to roll the fenders. Just do your research here on the site. From what I find, there is somebody who's done darn near everything possible to a Z here, so if you do your homework, you can learn from their mistakes, and make the right, informed decision for yourself.

P.S. As a side note, my boss is sending me to Denver for 2-3 weeks in October. You have any recommendations for restaurants and such in Denver and/or the surrounding areas? Thanks.

Thanks again. Yeah, I will be getting Nismo S-tune shocks and springs (0.8" drop) installed before I drive the car off the lot. I will be looking more deeply into tire widths in the future.

I can definitely give you plenty of recommendations on Denver restaurants etc. PM me closer to your departure date.

You were able to shoehorn a 275 on a 8.5" rim?

I have never seen that recomended on any tire chart before.

I've seen a lot of people on the forums running 275's on the stock track rims (8.5"). When I had them put on, the shop was little concerned, but after mounting them, they said they fit "perfect." Anyway, that's just my experience with them.

I checked toyo's site last night and they list 285-width under 9"-11" wide wheels, so yes, I should have no problems with my 10" wheels. Too bad T1-Rs don't come in 295 widths.

Anybody have any pics of a 275 on a 8.5" rim?

I would love to see what it looks like.

I run 285/35/19, drive agressiviely, and have never ever had any issues; there's plently of clearance. i would not want them any wider, though. 295 might be too big for optimal ride.

also, if you are going 275 width what is the best size to stay close to stock?

35mm maintains the stock height if someone moves from 18" to 19" wheels.

BTW, is your suspension stock? I have been wondering about clearance issues with wider-than-stock tires.

i am running stock suspension with my 285 rears and 275 fronts. regarding what you said about 35mm maintaing stock diameter, the 35 in , say 285/35-19 refers to the ratio between tire width and sidewall diameter; NOT the actual heigth of the tire sidewall. so, that 35 would mean different things for different width tires.
