lol I have blizzak ws-50s, trust me they are good tires. you don't "feel" like buying a new set of wheels, you're out of luck, the 18 inch blizzaks cost alot more.

i have a touring w/ 18s. however, my snow tires are mounted on the 17 inch wheels from an enthusiast model.

lol, going to have 3 sets of wheels soon. 19s for the bling, 18s for the summer tires, and 17s for the snow.

17's are much less expensive. I run 18's on my G (Pirelli SnowSport 240's) and the difference in price per tire was a lot. Since my stock rims needed to clear the Brembo's, 17's were not an option. The 18" ASA JH3's clear but not by a heck of a lot. Would have been happy to drop a size for snows, but no go...

17s will clear the brembos on a Z...not on a G? You sure?

For a snow tire to be effective you want to narrow the width as much as possible. Running 245 snows at the back will give significantly less grip in the snow when compared to 225/17's or 205/16's.

Well this answers my question. I was about to begin a "How do you guys deal with snow/all season tires and summer tires?" thread.
Does it make more sense to just buy different wheel/tires for the seasons?

i was lucky to buy the OE 17s off of a friend. his wheels weren't in perfect condition w/ scuff marks and minor curb damages but i MADE them perfect by prepping, sanding, painting, and clearcoating.

my advice is, keep looking.... for the next winter

Default Nope - 17" Wheels Do Not clear the Brembos

Sorry for the confusion.

Nope. They will not. I was saying if you did not have to worry about the brakes the 17" would have been a good alternative. 17" with a little more narrow footprint would have made for a better Winter tire, but I am running stock sizes with Pirelli 240 Snowsports. They also cost quite a bit more than some of the choices in 17 inch tires.

Don't waste money buying 17" wheels for a 2004 6 MT - 18" or larger only. I have not seen a 17" wheel that would come close to clearing the Brembos.

Sorry for the confusion.

No doubt true. Wish I could have gone narrower and smaller wheel, but I could not fit a 17 inch on my 2004 6MT.

On my Altima I run 16" (205/55/VR16) Summer, 195/15" Hankook snows - squirlley on dry pavement, but very good in the snow.

Biggest snow problem I run into with the G is the lack of clearance allows fresh snow to pack up under the car. If the road has been plowed, I am good. If more than 4-6" not plowed, I get lift under the front wheels eventually.

I can run the Altima through 6+" of fresh snow when needed with lowered 3/4-1" from stock - not a lot more clearance, but much narrower tires (and FWD of course). 2nd choice, only if the weather is pretty crappy.

Still, I drive the G year-round except in bigger storms - then I just drive my truck. Living in NW CT, I have two Winter seasons with the G. It can be done - just get dedicated snows. I've been pretty impressed with what it go through and most of all, I don't have to worry about driving somewhere and being stuck with 1" of snow or just some ice.

And - it loves clean dry winter roads with cold air in the intake

Check out my pics - maybe you have a line on something that will clear, but I did not.

In theory should be the same as my Z; if you know of a wheel that does, I do not. The stock 18" have about 20mm of clearance at the tightest point between the inner rim and caliper, the ASA JH3's a little less, would not fit in 17".

I do not think the G has ever been sold with both the stock 17" rims and Brembos, much like the Track 350Z - 18" rays have been stock wheels. The rotors in front I thought were the same size, too - around 12" in front.

Not much room for downsizing the wheels on mine at least. If you know of a 17" rim that works with the Brembos I'd like to know as I was considering selling the wheels later for something else - I just didn't have a lot of choice at the time and the JH3's are ok but a little heavy (heavier that stock!)

Default Looks like 17's can fit Brembos - very confused!

Well, my bad, this year tire rack lists at least 4 tires and wheel packages for 17" - a little over a year ago these either were not an option or I just missed it!

I can't believe you can drop an inch outside diameter on ASA JH3's, unless they increase the clearance - there is next to none on my car, but I trust Tire Rack as they have not steered me wrong on many, many purchases!
