Default Gas milage and rims- please help

Hey guys- im only getting around 17mpg on my 04, and all i have is an aem intake, and 20" iforged rims, weighing 25 lbs each up front, and 27 lbs each in the rear. I dont drive like a madman, so any thoughts on why im only getting 17? Thanks.

Well from what I know the 20" rims compared to the stock 17" or 18" takes more power to get going and takes more power to turn. Also you didn't state wether you were highway or city driving. If mostly city then that's your problem right there... every 350z gets **** for mpg with stop and go.

I put 20" Thruxtons on (not the lightest wheel) and my avg. mpg dropped 3mi/gal.

need min. toe settings on wide tires or the rolling resistance is very high. Its not just the weight.

Fuel mileage has been addressed numerous times, and its difficult to make a comparison without the average mph. That said, added weight will effect fuel mileage. Tires also effect mileage with a characteristic referred to as “rolling resistance.”

I see a pretty consistent -2 mpg from my winter wheels and tires, which are about 5 lbs heavier per wheel and a lot more rolling resistance than the Michelin PS's. Pirelli Snowsport 240's on ASA rims, the extra weight and winter tread take their toll. Normally I get 19-20 city/26-28 highway, both drop more like 18/24 now.

Weight matters esp on the stop and start, should not impact the highway mileage so much if tires are similar.
