Default Is 19" (Nismo) a mistake without F/I

Wondering if 19" Nismo rims will take away noticable power because of the tire size. Planning on doing Mods but not F/I. Should I have gone 18" ?
Any Opinion on Nismo rims. Z is yellow. Thanks.

it wouldnt make much of a difference...
forged rims r light anyways
so... basically... its still better than regular stock non-track rims...
then 19s looks impressive or lets put it to the real word... grandeur!

Your 19" tyres are going to be more expensive for the equivalent tread pattern & width, but your sidewall will flex less when you turn = better handling. Unless your rolling diameter is larger, you won't notice a speed difference as the rims are so darn light.

Pro's
Looks & Exclusivity
Slightly better handling

Cons
More expensive - both rims and tyres
Harder to find tyres?

No difference in speed / acceleration if you choose the right tyre sizes

i noticed a slight increase in power when i switched from the 19" G35 forged rims to some 18's, 19" Nismo rims look OK but a little pricey, the spokes aren't as aggressive as the 18" Nismos, for the price id look into getting some te37s or le37s in 19" with an aggressive offset

Welcome to the forum. Wheels neither add or subtract power: the engine produces what it produces. The question about wheel sizes (and associated tires) is about weight not size: it takes more power to turn a 25-pound wheel than it does a 20-pound wheel.

18" Nismos give you slightly less unsprung weight as compared to the 19" wheels and are the same width.

Weight is not the only difference, even if they were the same weight, the 19's have more rotational inertia and would make the car feel slower. I guarantee it.

very true, but the 19" tires also have 1" less of diameter, sice the usually stay close to spec tire diameters. so yea there is more mass further out, but there is less of it on the tire.

Just posting my personal experience, going from stock 18's to not-too-heavy 19's.

I would definitely go with the 19" Nismo's. It's just worth it in the looks department. And now stock Track & Grand Touring models are coming with 19s in the rear and G35's w/the sport-tuned suspension come w/19s. I would definitely go with the 19" Nismos. Looks aren't "everything", but they sure do account for a lot.
