Default How are Nitto NT555's ?

Anyone have any experience with these tires? What kind of traction/treadwear do these get? And just for the hell of it, has anyone ever taken them in the snow ?

I have them on my 95 stang, and they stick pretty good. I can't tell you about the treadwear cause I avg 10k miles in 3 years, but they suck in the snow for sure.

I've had the 555's before and honestly, they are ok. There really isn't anything too special about them. If you're looking for a daily driven tire with some performance capabilities, then the 555's are a good choice. If you're looking for a tire with high performance/grip power, then I say don't go with them. One other thing about them, they get really loud after about 10k miles...can get pretty annoying.

they are a little better than the stock tires as far as grip goes. Treadwear seems to be better than the stock tires also. As far as road noise goes, i really havent notice an increase in it and i've had them on my car for about 13k miles. Dont even bother with them in the snow, you'll end up in a ditch.

I've got them right now... I like them for a daily driven tire. I've autocrossed with them and they did decent, better than stock. Went to the dragstrip with them and they once again did decent, and once again I felt better than stock. Treadwear has been pretty good so far. Grip in the rain...well I can break the tires loose in 4th gear, but probably so can everyone else on the board... so I dont have much of a say there. Can't comment about snow... I was able to wear shorts today and be fairly comfortable. Road noise: not bad at all, had my friends KDW2s on for a little while and they were noticeably louder. Price is very good on them. Overall.... I'm happy with them, very good choice for the money, but like what was said before: there are better tires out there.
Hope that helps.

thanks for the information... On tuesday i'm picking up the new shoes and the tires that came with them are 245/35/20F 275/30/20R Nitto 555's. Hopefully they will get the job done.

I had the NT 555's in the rear on my stock track rims, and I liked them. I wasn't looking for hardcore performance, and I don't drive my car much in the rain, so they were good for what I used them for, which was just cruising around town. They last much longer than the stock ones, which is what I wanted. I did go downtown one night and it snowed unexpectedly, and they were HORRIBLE in the snow. I live about 7 miles from downtown, and it took me 45 mins to get home. They were all over the place. They were 275's though, which certainly didn't help.

Ive had them for almost two years and over 20,000 miles and they still have a lot of life left. I havent noticed any excessive noise with them either. I think they made a world of difference in grip compared with the stock tires but the Nittos I have are a lot wider. I can get them to hook up pretty good at the drag strip too. I got them for a good price which didnt hurt either. I think they are a good all around tire.

Cool, i'm not looking for a hardcore performance tire either. I need something I can just cruise around with and get good treadwear with.... Looks as if these are the tires for me. I'll be posting up pics tomorrow when I pick up the new shoes!

What is the tread wear rating of the Nitto 555 tires?

My question was for SRT4 to 350Z so that he could learn to answer his own questions. But thanks for responding. The NITTO tires will last about twice as long as the OEM tires.

Are these ratings out of 4? 5? 10? Those numbers don't really mean much unless we know the scale.
