I have the T1-R and they are OK for the price. They are better tires out there.

You have several performance mods, so it appears that you are interested in tire performance and handling. Can you find Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in the proper size?

I thought Toyo made Nittos. I have 19 and 20 inch Nittos and they're okay.

basically a daily driver more than performance

yes toyo makes nitto.

Rating on the TR1 are better than Nitto

This is the rating that 1010 tiresonline gave both tires, seems the Toyo Proxes T1-Rs rate higher in every category

Toyo Proxes T1R Summer Ultra High Performance
Dry: 4.7 Wet: 4.6 Snow: 0 Handling: 4.6 Comfort: 4.6 Noise: 4.4 Treadwear: 4.4

Toyo Nitto NT555 Summer Ultra High Performance
Dry 3.8 Wet 2.8 Snow 0 Handling 3.8 Comfort 3.9 Noise 3.3 Treadwear 4.0

Depends on whether or not you drive your Z daily. If so, go with the T1-R's. I've had mine for 3 months and they grip very well in the rain. The factory falkens scared the sh$t outta me 3-4 times. The Toyo's cut thru the puddles much better. Not too sure about the Nitto's, but the 2.8 in wet is well below the T1R's 4.6

Nitto NT555's vs Toyo T1R's

My opinions, since I used both... 555 < T1R. T1R has all around better grip than 555 esp when they are warm/hot. I had a pretty good scare with the 555 going on an on-ramp to the freeway, never again for me. For the money, T1R is the best bet. I use 245/35/19 Fr and 275/35/19 Rr.

For the price I'm OK with my Nittos. When I do need to replace them I'll probably try something different though. They have treated me good but seeing specs makes me think that I'm missing out on better handling.

I've always been a fan of Toyos. If you can afford the price difference, go with those.

I have used both, as well as others suck as AVS sports, and hands down I like the T1Rs much better. Street and Track use has been good to me as well as in the wet. and for what its worth, I have used Toyo T1S from my M3 to my past 600rwhp Supra

I've had nitto555's on my mustang and 350Z and they had terrible grip on either car. They just happened to be on the cars when I bought them. I have no experience with the Toyo's but there are several mid-low cost tires that i'm sure have better grip. I replaced the nittos on the mustang with Sumitomo HTZRII's and the ones on my 350Z with Falken GRB-FK 451's. Both are better than the nitto, but i'd say the Falken is better than the Sumitomo although they are on totally different cars.
