17 Front & 18 Rear combo, what do you guys think?
I have been thinking about doing something a little different, at least on a Z.
17 front with 275/40-17 g-Force T/A KDW
and
18 rear with 275/40-18 g-Force T/A KDW
The rims I like are the Advan RGII, here is the size table http://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/japan..._BRND_CD=ADRG2

The picture of the TT tire in that PDF is what I want my sidewalls to look like, not stretched and not bulged.
Given all of that, what would be the best combination or is it even possible?
For instance I could go 9 all the way around or maybe 9.5 front, 10 back .
If I go 9.5 front, 10 rear, they will look a bit different front to back but maybe not that different.
Keep in mind, this is my daily driver and weekends are spent in the mountains surrounding the bay area.
Any thoughts?

That would make your rear overall diameter 1" bigger than the front. Don't know if that is what you are going for.
Also, since you are going with 275 all the way around just be aware that our cars are designed for understear. I believe it will affect your VDC in negative ways since it is programmed with understear in mind.
I would go with the PS2 over the G-Force. Check out Tire Racks comparison of the two. PS2 is the best summer tire that still has excellent performance in wet conditions.
If you are looking for a true summer tire (with almost no wet driving) than I would go with the Falken RT-615. You will save a truck load of money, and Grassroot's mag did a track test and it was by far the best summer street tire, and they did have the G-Force T/A KDW in the comparison.

Forgot, make sure you are not adding weight with your tire/wheel. If you increase weight, you will lose hp and traction in a turn. Remember 1# of your tire/wheel weight is worth 8# on your car!!!

The 1" part should not be to big an issue, Andy at Performance Nissan was running 275/35-18F and 275/40-18R on 9.5s and had no SLIP issues, and those two are near 1.08" stagger.
I don't have VDC, just TCS.
I live in San Jose so I need reasonable wet tires and may end up looking at different tires.
The 18x10 Advan RGIIs are under 20lbs, the 18x9s are under 19 etc, so they are not overly heavy for cast wheels.
I keep waffling between this plan idea and the Nismo 18x9.5 all the way around like Andy had.
Either way, it's not conventional.
To me the pros of the Nismo's are strong forged wheels and real Nismo parts, the cons, super short sidewall on the fronts (not the best for the washboard corners I find in the hills).
The Advan RGII pros are: something different (both in size and style) and thick sidewalls front and back to absorb those washboards.

Don't they use different sizes on NSX's and C5 vettes, it works for them.
Dude - if I still lived in California, I wouldn't worry about wet traction unless it was a daily driver.

I am aware that Nismo wheels are made by Rays, it says so right on them. I have looked at the Volk line and they are ok but not what I am looking for. The TE37 is probably the closest to what I want but not really.
TCS only compares rotational speed of each wheel to determine if the backs are spinning faster than the front, tire diameter is an issue, width of the tire is not. VDC uses the wheel speed and g meters to decide if the car is sliding in other directions. None of this is affected by width, it is affected by hight.
None of this was really my question though and from what I can tell there is very little interest in running 17/18 combo on a Z. Reworded, What is the best wheel size and offset to run these particular tires without a stretched look based on what is available in an RGII.
