Default Pilot Sport PS2 vs GoodYear Eagle F1 GS D43

I currently have GoodYear Eagle F1 GS D3. I am debating whether to put Pilot Sport PS2 for 245/18 and 275/18. They seem to have great cornering and steering response from user reviews on tirerack.com. I think as per tirerack results F1GSD3 are a notch below PS2s,

Have you guys tried them? What is your take. Also PS2s are 1-2 pound lighter per tire as compared to Goodyears.

Thanks a lot for replying.

The F1's...cheaper and as good if not better imo, and from the comparisons I've seen in magazines and from fellow racers...

Both tires get rave reviews. The PS2's are about 4 lbs. lighter per tire. If you get PS2's please post your opinions of both tires.

Both consistentley finish in the top-5 no matter who tests the tires. My next tires will also be Goodyear. Why screw with something that works.

I was debating on those two and ended up with the PS2s. I did read all the reviews and researched on multiple forums and came to the conclution that the PS2s are the best all around street tire.

From tire rack, the price difference for 245/275 18s was less than $100 so that shouldn't be the deciding factor here. One thing that did worry me about the Eagles is the complaints of a soft sidewall and poor turn in response.

Really depends on your needs though. Being from san diego, I don't think you're that worried about wet performance. If you base your decision solely on dry performance, I'd look into the PS2s, the BF goodrich KDs and the Yokahama Advans.

I think you are right. Goodyear has a better ride due to soft tirewall however it is a tad below in steering response from Bridgestone Potenza's RE040. I think I have got used to it though now. I will probably try PS2s next time around to see how they feel.

You'll love em!
PS2's are like crack for wheels. Once you try them you'll love them and want to come back. I had PS2's and they lasted 20k miles with negative camber when I was making 440whp. I had to get new tires and they were sold out so i went to the Bridgestone Reo50A's and they are great tires too. But I miss the PS2's they have better driver confidence and less road noise and are the stickiest I've used. Consiquently the most expensive.

My car had PS2's on it when I bought it, don't know how long, but the massive outer rib has been feathered and worn down quite a bit on the front tires. This is opposite to the usual Nissan feathering on the insides of the tires. These tires cannot be rotated side to side or front to back, so I think I will be stuck buying new tires soon for the front only.

Should I take it to the stealership for the alignment, in hopes that they want to contribute to new tires, given the whole feathering TSB thing?

Great tires though, sticks like magic, even when wet.

worn outer rib on fronts happened when the last owner tracked the car...

By the way RE050 tires suck

hehehe... we also found scratches on the underside of the exhaust system, and the bottom of the front bumper is scraped all to hell, indicative of track use. With such a short overhang, there's no reason to scrape the front otherwise.

Drives great for a car that has seen track use, though.

Owner claimed "one time only"...

love my PS2's. Wet, Dry, auto-x... they do it all, and last longer than the stock tires or SO3's I had. Better in every way than those.

Froggy, what makes you say the RE050 sucks?

Well, the RE050 last longer than the 050A, BOTH aren't very good or bad in any category and you need to warm them up to get some grip, in conclusion, nothing exceptional !!

PS2 are great, but touch/depress the sidewall (soft, comfy), they're not intend to be tracked.

For street + track use, I've been reading some good reviews on Falken 615, Yoko AD07, or even BFG KDW2 (we can't get any of these tires in France), I'll test the new Falken 452...It won't be exceptional, but hopefully better than my bald 050A...

I have PS2s also, 255 in the front and 295 in the rear.
Even at high speeds it's amazing how quite they are.
And traction on wet surfaces is very good also.
I could never buy any other tires, I am very happy with the PS2s.
