Default Pictures of lowered roadster

I just ordered some Eibach's for my touring roadster. Does anyone have a lowered roadster if so please post a pic and let me know how you like it.

Any pics of Eibach lowered roadster or coupe would be good.

Do you need to do anything to the car once the springs are put on, like an alignment?

Thanks

Default Thanks

See my car already has 19's on it and looks pretty low. I'm just worried the springs might make it look too low. Plus I don't want to have problems with alignment issues.

Default lowered roadster

If you don't want to have alignment issues, don't lower the car. With my roadster even as little as an inch of lowering as advertised by Hotchkiss Springs resulted in the car not being able to meet factory alignment. The solution to lowered car and factory alignment is expensive. After-market front and rear suspension components are required to add enough adjustment to bring the wheels back to factory alignment specifications. The alternative is to lower the car, get the best possible alignment you can and live with reduced tire life. It's your money and your choice.

I just lowered my car a little over an inch this weekend, and they were able to get it within spec...maybe it's different from place to place, but i saw the paper showing the factory spec's, and mine matched those #'s.

i agree...very well said.

here's my car again, but this time w/ 19's. rear camber is -2.1/-2.2 (max spec is -2.1). front is -1.5/-1.6 (max is -1.3). the alignment shop said that TOE is what actually causes your tire to wear out quickly (can anyone confirmed that?). Toe on my car was perfect so that's cool. Caster was w/in specs also.

if u're NOT worried about spending the extra money on camber kits or tires...lower it cuz it looks and corner better. maybe go w/ coilovers to have some adjustability in case the drop isn't exactly what you want. i hope that helps.

Yes too much toe is worse than camber as the tires are more or less scrubbing from having the tires turned in like this / \ . Too much neg. camber will cause them to wear uneven. With neg. camber the inside of the tire will wear faster than the outside.

edit: When lowering you can end up with too much toe like this \ /. Again the tires are scrubbing which can really reduce tire life.

I'm dropped on Hotchkis springs and my alignment tech was able to get everything pretty much back in spec. I think my passenger side rear is like .1 over spec on neg. camber.

If you lower the car, you may not be able to obtain the factory alignment specs, but with the added negative camber, your car will handle better. You can always buy new tires. That's the great thing about tires wearing out...it gives you the chance to try out new ones and see which ones you like the best. You can always make more money!

How much quicker do you go through tires on average! I just got some 19's Volks and want to drop it, but am worried about buying new tires constantly! Anybody have estimate or experience on tire life before and after dropping! I guess how much camber you have will affect it. So anybody who can comment on their experiences would be of great help.

Depends on what kind of tire you have, or better yet the compound and tire wear rating. Toyo's wear friggin fast, BF Goodrich a lil better. Michelin PS2's lasted 20k out rear and 23k and going up front.

My '04 ZR is dropped 1.25-1.50 w/Type I Tanabe Sustec Pro-SOC coilovers and specially valved shocks. Tires are Kumho 245f/275r on 9"f/10"r RPO3's. Tires have about 9k on them. As of last Thursday, both rears were w/in 1/32 inside to outside. and the fronts were dead-on. I've got other suspension mods, but not camber arms. The only problem I had was finding an alignment shop:NOBODY would put me on the ramps, and I ended-up having to pay $200 for a custom job to a shop w/an old fashioned alignment pit. Apparently, they did a good job.
I agree w/ the previous post--lower your car for the gains in handling and appearance. If you go thru tires more quickly, that's just a good excuse to try different types of tires.

I like that attitude, go through tires so you can get new ones without feeling guilty. I'm running T1R's, so if i were to slam it, how much quicker would I go through the tires vs. stock height...I want to drop 1.5 inches at least, ideally but if tire life is cut in half, I'm not sure if it is worth it quite yet, consider I just got some volks and T1Rs saturday!! But I F'ing hate the gap!!!

expect at least 10K miles out of it. How long will it take you to drive 10K miles?

Bubble I am sure your tired of telling people this but I have to know the wheel type, size, offsets, wheel size, and will they go on a stock Z without alterations. PS: You are the man. I know most of us will never touch this.
