If I ever visit Germany I'll roll on through and give a good foot to the forehead.

Joking aside, you should have told him, one of Germany's strongest wheels: "BBS" are forged in Japan. They use those wheels in the DTM and formula race cars.

I love how merchants knock on what they don't know about, or don't sell.
I went to a shop to get an alignment that specializes in BMW, Mercedes, Escalade, Bentley, etc. They had never heard of Volks either.

One customer came outside with a sales rep and said, "what about these black ones?" pointing at my rims.

The sales rep said, "well, I think those aren't a true 2-piece. probably just 2-piece look..."

I had to step in and be like "wait wait wait...... these are real Volks... notice the lip...'seamless, forged'... you've never heard of Volks??"
The customer asked, "what do those run, like $2-grand a piece?" (This part made my day, I can't believe the guy thought I dropped $9k on rims/tires haha )

This was a sales manager with like 15+ years of experience... lol

Volks are "in" only with the Japanese / import crowd. A lot of German/domestic guys have no idea what volks are and could care less. Those mercedes guys are more than happy to drop $1500+ **per** forged, 3-pc rim. I see it all the time at this shop. Just like how I don't give a **** about their bling rims, they don't care about my Volks. To each his own...

There are a few euro guys that stick Volks or Works on their rides just to step away from the norm. I've also seen Lambo's with those Work SP-1's, M3's with LE37's (ahem Will Pwr )

I guess it just depends on how much you know, and can appreciate quality aftermarket parts.
