Default "Slipage"

Posting for a friend who has an 04 Touring Roadster, SHE went through the usual crap with dealers about tires and alingment, she replaced all 4 tires, the rears are not were not the ome size, I'll find out that tonight.
Anyway she said that a "slipage" light came on, she took it to a dealer and they told her the "slipage " light ?? was due to not having OME tires on the car.
Sounds like typical dealership BS and since you're a woman we'll screw you extra !
Anybody know anything about "slipage ?

the "slip" light comes on when your tires traction is broken loose. if the VDC is off then the light will not come on. but when its off the tires will be free to spinnnnnnn. careful. was it wet out when the light came on?...

if the rear tires aren't the OEM size, then the computer will calculate the wheel rotating speed difference between the front and rear as slippage. brand of the tire doesn't matter but size (rolling diameter) does.

Also check when the last time brake pads were replaced. Seems that she's getting the light when braking. When the pads get low, Slip will come on, VDC light, and parking brake light. It happened to me.

So if she got sold a -1 size tire then the slipage thing would activate ?
Untill she can get some OME sized or +1's since the OME' size for the rear all need to be ordered is there a way to deactivate the slippage thing.
And what would +1 size be ?

Default Car Sliping While Driving

I don't know what the heck to do, I just put staggered 19's on my car, 235 in the front, 265 in the back, the car slip light comes on while it's dry outside, WTF, how do I fix this really stupid problem.

this should be in the wheels/tires forum, and there is a sticky for this repeat question

when you buy the wrong sized tires, more often than not the TCS/VDC does not like your choice, if you have TCS/VDC.

kens350z, you listed your widths, not your aspect ratio/rim size. Tell us and we can tell you if that is your problem. Same data required from sugarbear to answer if the tires are her problem. If she bought the wrong sizes, the "dealer BS" is in fact, correct.

The Z's wheel/tire setup is staggered. That is to say, there is a outside diameter difference between the front and rear tires. When you replace tires, you must maintain that stagger (within tolerance) or you will have problems with VDC/TCS. The Slip light is a sign that VDC/TCS has kicked in, cutting throttle and/or applying the brakes.

The front tire OD should be smaller than the rear tire OD by between 0.25 and 0.75".
