Default Wheel weight and rim sizes, advantages/disadvantages

Wheel weight and rim sizes, advantages/disadvantages

I am curious to see what the major disadvantages to a heavy wheel are. I have an 03 z currently with 18" Infiniti wheels (i hate them, bought it that way) and am looking to get new wheels. I really like the Piaa Super Rozza's but they are beyond my budget so am interested in the Stern ST-1 beasts. These rims look like the Piaas but are less expensive and i can get a really good deal from Nedd for Speed Motorsports. I heard these wheels are heavy as hell however.

I am mostly looking for looks but I dont want my performance to go to sh*t either.

Also, I am up in the air as to go with 19's or 20's. Any suggestions??

Search is a valuable tool. See: https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-tires/175784-rim-questions.html.

Get whichever you think looks the best. Really you are not going to notice much of a performance difference between a heavy 19" wheel and a heavy 20" wheel. I'd go with 19's just because I think its a more balanced look and there is a better tire selection.

In my experience, light weight wheels and tires make a big difference. Stock 18's are heavy wheels. Track model's with Rays wheels save 10 pounds plus and do everything better. I switched to 18" (8.5/9.5) Enkei RPF1 wheels and knocked off 40 pounds of rotating mass. The result is very noticable. Wheels can look great and be light. Forget the bling, go light.

anything above 18's and you will likely be sacrificing performance to a certain degree. however most agree that 19's look better. I wouldn't suggest going with 20's unless you only care about filling out the wheel well.
