Default Need a Volk answer!

2 months ago I ran over what looked like an alternator with my left wheel on the freeway at 70mph. Needless to say I was pissed but once out of the car I found no damage to it or the tire. Last week I pulled the front wheels to check the brakes when I noticed a nominal sized lump dead center of the left wheel. damn things bent but only in the middle, now it does not vibrate or anything but I hate that it's there. They are GT7's so my question is has anyone ever bought just the outer wheel assm. since my center part is perfect and a new wheel is $500 or more and if so what dealer will do this for me, Thanks for any help.

In my past two plus years of being on these forums, the general consensus for a barrel replacement on Volks has been: "no" you can't switch it out.

Maybe if it was an HRE or some sort of custom wheel, but even at that it'd be alot more than 500 bucks.

Can you take it to a wheel repair shop?
Most places will repair bends on the barrel for around 100 bucks depending on it's severity.

It was a hard hard hit, Sounded like a grenade, I believe any other wheel would have completely split open. I'm glad they're are forged.

What?

All wheels bend if nailed hard enough.

The only difference is, quality wheels will bend slightly, whereas your average cracker jack wheels will shatter right off and have you spinning into your own fiery death.

Try buying $5k+ HRE that are banned from IMSA and other road race event due to the wheel crack during the event.. so you can have crack wheel or bend wheel?

Strength - Volk and BBS is top notch forged wheels. Work is cast wheel.

Styling - Volk, popular wheels designs (ce28n, te37, all the GT wheels, all the SF wheels. Work is ok but seems like the S1's are the only popular design. BBS can only go so far with the same mesh design.

Volk is #1.

You're kidding that Work is only cast wheels right? BBS and Work stay true to their roots and do not just release a ton of designs for the sake of it. Look at the Work Equips. It is so old skool that you can probably find an image of it in the dictionary on what a 5 spoke designed rim looks like. If these rims companies were not respected, their designs would not be TIMELESS.

I'll admit some of the Work designs are great. But like I said, it seems like only the S1's are popular these days.

And Works are casted. Pretty expensive for a cast weel.
