traction problems (nitto 555R)
The problem with the Z is the independent rear. The biggest problem I had with the Z was the wheel hop. With as much damage as wheel hop can cause I just let off instead because I didn't feel like breaking anything. I used to race a 240SX that had a very similar rear suspension to the Z but without and LSD and on smaller rear tires and I pulled a 2.2 60' which is great for that car. However, it took a lot of practice - I used to race it every friday night and it took me a few nights to really get it down. I was also a lot more willing to punish the clutch in that car since it already had 70,000+ miles on it.
The Z is definitely a lot harder to launch than a rear wheel drive car with a solid axle. I got in my brother's '02 WS6 for the first time and pulled a 2.0 60' and ran a 13 second run, and pretty much any idiot could launch my Buick - just stall up the converter and go. I think it will be a while before we see any Z's that are able to launch as hard as those cars though.
