RMC/ Rays Metal Coating is like a powder coat, weighs much less than chrome but yet you get a chrome like finish. I almost bought these but they were made to order( 3 month wait)

Not positive, but I think its just some special paint used that makes rims look similar to chrome. Im sure powder coating wheel shops can have it done.

Well when I was looking into this for my old wheels I could not find a paint shop that can do this type of powder coating.
Here is the link to a shop that has been specializing in this type of coating
http://www.goodrichtechnology.com/main.html
They'll be able to get it done for you.

About the whole rim, the only concern I would have is that if the coating process thickens the lips thus far causing an issue with remounting the center and or lug nuts
If you call the shop and ask of this I'm sure they should be capable enough to avoid this problem.
Just make sure that all holes especially the hub get covered, when I powder coated my wheels they did not cover all the wholes so I had to grind the hub, lug holes a bit to fit everything back in.

you can take the centers off and paint them in chrome or black chrome.
leave the lips polished.

You were misinformed. There are few shops in CA that do the "Permastar" finish which is the same process that Rays (and all the other popular JDM wheel companies) use.

You can have them done in chrome or black chrome. It can run anywhere from $150-$200 per wheel. I had my RO_JA Formula 5's done in black chrome.
