5Zigen FN01R-C question
Hi,
I'm thinking about bying 4 FN01R-C 18x8.5 +30 Silver for my 350Z. I'm shopping around to get the best price, and one of the salesmen I just called told me that every set of FN01R-C he sold came back on warranty because the clear coat was peeling!
Does that make any sens? As anyone heard anything of the sort about these wheels? If any of you have them, what do you think? Are they that really that bad?
Thanks.

I have a set of 17x9 hyperblacks that I picked up cheap from SPLParts.com and haven't had any issues. I also have a set of 17x9.5 ProRacer GN+ from 5Zigen and have had no issues with the finish on them either.
If you're getting 18's i'd suggest running a staggered setup and get some 18x9.5's for the rear.

But I have to admit, I am tempted to go 8.5 front and 9.5 rear. I'm still debating it, but then again I wasn't sure I was going take these wheels after the salesman comments anyway. Although the comments I've had here confirm my doubts about the validity (invalidity that is) of his remarks.
Sfarrah : The vendor did say that all the guys that complained got what they wanted through the warranty (I'm not sure if that meant replacement/reimbursement/getting them fixed), but that it had been a pain in the ***. As for the finish, I'm not sure, but I was going to get mine in Solid Silver (the only 4 left in Canada, according to him and BC Auto Design web site. So no choice of color...).

As for the sizing, if you're going to throw down cash for new wheels, I say get a true upgrade and to me that means WIDER! I run 17x9.5 GN+'s all around with 275/40/17 and I love it. The grip is truly amazing and corners so much better than my old 18x8 and 18x9's. I'm using this setup with street tires for both street and track and I've passed several other Z's running R compounds. Just my $.02

ppw : those pictures make me glad I chose those rims! But I'm almost afraid to ask... why did you change them?

FYI, the NISMO LMGT4s in 18" sizes are 8.5 and 9.5 IIRC.
