Default Tire wear with 19s and Tanabe GF210s

Those running the gf210s with 19s, do your inner fronts wear quickly? Reason I'm asking is I noticed that once I put my 19in. Volks, the inner of my tire wore out pretty quickly. I had the GF210s on my stock 17s for over 10000 miles when I took the front wheels off you couldn't see any sign of uneven wear, and the rear barely, barely wore out unevenly. Now when I bought these volks off a member, he was on stock suspension so the tires were basically even, with about 85% on the front, 50% or so in the rear. I've had them on for maybe 3000 miles and noticed that the inners are worn down alot in the front, not so badly in the back. Does toe contribute to inner tire wear? Could offset affect this? Maybe due to the fact the wheels stick out further then OEMs, it could rest more on the inner of the tires? Anyways, I just want to know what your tires look like.... Oh and btw, I haven't gotten any alignments, due to the fact that my front is pretty low with the aerosync bumper, and i don't know a place that will put my car on a rack.

I guess I was going to ask if you got a new alignment yet. With a new wheel/tire setup its a requirement.

I've noticed the reverse--fronts are fine, rears are umm...BAD. Of course, I was probably running upwards of neg 3 degrees camber.

Holla,

Ravi

Hahah, honestly, no. LOL

I'm getting new tires this weekend, along with a gang of other crap. I'll post my findings and try to help you out. Realisitcally, toe is the one that kills us on the Z as far as wear is concerned.

I recommend the SPC camber adjustment with toe bolt to fully mitigate your issue. This is only if the shop can't lift it how you must. Try to call some shops up and find one b/c man...tires sure aren't cheap =(

maybe i'll just get alignment to see if that helps even though they can only do toe in the front. i hope the rear doesn't start rubbing if they adjust the rear camber. i'm running 275s on 19x10.5+22

I have the Tanabe NF210's installed on my 2004 with an alignment. And have had no signs of tire wear so far. (5,000 miles on new tires) And am using the stock 17 inch wheels.

I got mine done at Auto Innovations in Milpitas for $80.00 for my spring setup. Prices my be different due to different types of suspension setups.

Holla,

You do not need to do an alignment with just swapping wheels and tires. But you should do one when you lower the car. Andy here is running 19" wheels, with the GF210s, and he was able to keep the car within factory alignment "tolerances" after. On the 350Zs, and G35s, we have negative camber built into the suspension already from the get-go, so when you lower the car, you're getting more negative camber, which in turn will mean that the inners of your tires will wear out faster than before. How much faster can depend on your Toe angle, how you drive, etc...
Getting aftermarket arms for the front to cure this issue with the drop of a GF210 isn't quite worth while because the car needs it's negative camber that it is set up with to help give it it's handling characteristics. If you adjust the camber back closer to 0, you end up saving the tires, but ruin the overall way the car handles.

Adjustable camber arms for the front are especially useful for the track guys that like to dial in more negative camber for various track conditions, rather than using them as a tool to save tires
