Default Replacing My Rear Tires - Suggestions Please

Hi Guys,

I have an 04 Touring 350Z. I had the front tires replaced at 21,000 due to the feathering TSB / Recall / whatever you call it. My car is now at 33,000 miles and I'm very close to wearing out my rear tires.

I have the Potenzas front and back.

Are there any issues with getting non-Potenza tires on the rears and keeping my fronts? I want to go with the normal 245/45R18 tires on the rear as indicated by the specs for the car.

Any recommendations for this situation? Thanks!

Default hmmm

Also, I don't drive my car like an ******* or anything but I'd like to get something that MIGHT last a little longer. Like if I can get 40K or more miles out of this new set, that would be great!

I drive fast on the highways, but I'm not peeling out or trying to burn rubber or anything.

I ran the Potenzas through a couple harsh winters and I was decently impressed with the fact that the car handles pretty well in the snow (of course driving slowly)

Yes you can put different tires on different axles. Mileage? Look at the wear rating.

kumho asx, nitto 555's, bfg's, just look for something around a 400 rating or higher.

Maybe I haven't had them long enough but I just put Avon Techs on my rears and couldn't be happier (go to tirerack.com and look up tires by size 245.45.18). They're all seasons and are a HUGE improvement over the stock Potenzas.

I have Toyo Proxes TS1 and I am not to very satisfied. My traction doesn't seem all much better than stock and they are looking pretty worn with only 6,500 miles on them. I live in salt Lake and I don't drive in the snow, but sometimes I get stuck in a blizzard and it is nearly impossible to drive. They are also expensive as hell. The next time I buy tires I think I going with the Goodyear eagle F1 GS-G3. I have heard they are pretty good and Car & driver (Maybe R&T?) did a performance test using the top 8 or 10 tires and they won. Goodluck!

You may want a performance all-season tire. You will give up some performance, but gain tread life. Just make sure that you get the proper speed rating.
