I wanted to get wider tire in the rear (245/45/17) will this setup work if i leave the front tires the same. THX!!!

 

Just keep the overall diameter the same as the tire you're replacing.

 

245/45R17 is actually smaller in diameter than the stock front tires by .09" and could cause "Slip" light issues if your car has TCS/VDC.

The common replacement size for the 17s is 255/45R17, 8" is the smallest rim size recommended for this size by most tire manufacturers.

By the way, 245/45R17 is the common front tire replacement, also the front 7.5" rim is the smallest size recommended for this tire by most manufacturers.
