Default Replacement Tires for Z?

I've had to replace the Pot's on my '04 Roadster twice now, and it's expensive as hell. I just picked up a nail near the sidewall on the right rear (which only have about 10K miles), and the tread on my fronts are wearing big time.

Since I'm faced with ANOTHER set of four, I'm looking for alternatives. What do you think is the best alternative for comparable performance and longer durability?

Thanks!

Add Toyo T 1Rs to those listed. tirerack does not sell Toyos.

BFG KDWs and Mich Pilot Sport 2s seem to be the board favorites.

Thanks for the chart, but I'm hoping to get opinions from owners buying the different brands. I've been looking at Tire Rack for Pot replacements and they're definitely better than my dealer but I drive it pretty hard and this brand just doesn't last.

If you want a tire with the exact same handling charactaristics and 95% of the same tread pattern with twice the tread life, look at Cooper Tires. I got nearly 30K out of a set on the rear.

Check out Goodyear DS-G3's they have great grip and are usually less expensive.

Look at the Kumho tires in Tire Rack.
I put the Ecsta ASR on mine and with the tire wear numbers above 400 compared to 140 for the POts and the amazing quiet ride I now have I am sold! Handling is superb as well...The Ecsta ASX is a good one also if your staying near or at stock sizes.

That's where I'm at. 15000 and my rears are worn down in the center, which I understand is normal. Any recommendations on where to go in the San Jose/Milpitas area???

I ordered a set of Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S (245/40/18 & 275/40/18) to mount on my Nismo wheels. Should have them mounted this week. Good reviews and "reasonable" pricing were the key factors that made me select this tire. If you are interested, I can PM you after I get some miles with the new tires?

PS: Anybody want some BS 040 (225/45/18 & 245/45/18) with less then 500 miles on them...cheap.

I love my Kumho ASX All-season (but I live where we get that white stuff, and the Z is my daily driver -- year 'round).

I've also heard that the Kumho SPTs are really good for summer tires.

Dude, KDWs are BFG, lol.

I would recommend BFG KDW2s, Toyo Proxes T1R, or Pirelli P Zero Rossos from experience/ what I've heard.
