Default Aftermarket lug nuts + OEM wrench = "nah uh"

So I got in to work today at my usual time. Typical Monday (but really Tuesday) type day. The day went by fine, nothing to complain about... until it was time to go home. So I get out of my building get to my car and what do I see? A fukin flat in my rear passenger side. So I figured it's no big deal since I bought tire plugs and a mini electric air compressor when I purchased a BBK. I got everything setup and was ready to unscrew the lug nuts except the OEM wrench WAS NOT the same size as the Volk Duralumin..... I just paused there and thought how fuked up this situation was. I blame myself for not noticing the size difference between the OEM and Volk lug nuts when I changed them out last year but then again no one would know unless you already knew it was different or when you are in my situation.

So, I am still at work waiting for my gf to come home to get my toolset and come to my work so I can get the wheel off. Damn, I am an idiot.

Btw, thank you "City of Irvine" for all the construction you have been doing on Irvine Blvd. between Jeffrey all the way to Lake Forest. Your continuously shifting traffic patterns everyday, construction debris and divots every feet in the road makes my commute so exciting every morning and afternoon.

Well, here's the funny thing... I just got back home.. without the Z. I got the Z up and wheel off and as I was inspecting it there is a gash from the tread and out of the side wall. That was one hell of a nail or whatever it was. So I will be going in early and taking the spare with me so I can get it to Goodyear to get the tire replaced.

I'll take pics of the f'd up tire tomorrow, it even amazed me how bad the damage was and even more that I was able to get to work without wrecking.

Albert are you sure the gash is not a results of a knife or something. Now that you posted this I never checked my wheels and my OEM wrench to see if it fits...yikes

You have bad luck with wheels and tires man...

And I know what you mean about the lugs and the stock wrench. As soon as I figured out they are not compatible I got a new lug wrench at pep boys and shoved it in the spare tire area.

Haha, thanks Mike and Ed. The gash wasn't from a knife. It was from the inside part of the tread to the inside sidewall. I dropped off the wheel at goodyear just an hour ago so they can get the Nittos on there (Dunlop in 275/40/18 were $380/pc) since they are only $225. Yeah, no luck in tires & wheels but that ain't stopping me.

sorry to hear about the wheel problems man.
I just drove by the road that caused my Volks to bend 4 months ago. Mucaster Mill Road(I'm sure you driven on it before). Its as smooth as butter now..WTF. My complaint to the State of MD hasn't been returned since this road got fixed.
