Default single tire pressure sensor not working

the front driver-side pressure sensor just stopped working about a week ago. I simply get "--" on the guage no matter how long/fast i drive.

my question is, if i choose to replace it, will i have to buy all four ($$$!!) because they may/may not have to be programmed?

i found this http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...Category_Code=
but i'm not sure if i should get all four at once...

anyone have any experience with replacing one or more sensors.

At most, you should only need ONE new sensor. However, it seems more likely to me that the battery (which is replaceable) in that one particular sensor may have died. If you do end up replacing the whole sensor, though, you will have to get the new sensor registered with the on-board computer. The dealer can do this (I've been quoted ~$70 to have all four sensors re-registered).

Incidentally, does anyone know of a do-it-yourself tool for registering tire pressure sensors?

They can be programmed individually.

You can find a used one in the Classified Forum here that will work fine. In fact, you can buy four used ones for the price of one new one from the dealer.

The battery shouldn't have died as suggested above, they are supposed to have a 7 year life and they are NOT replaceable, it's a sealed unit.

You will still have to get a dealer or somebody else with a Consult II unit to reprogram that new sensor.

My apologies... I thought I had read somewhere that the batteries were replaceable. Sorry for the misinformation.

Thanks a lot, i appreciate the help. I will search the classifieds. Hopefully it will cost less than $70 to program just one sensor. I just bought a new keyless entry fob and i was charged $50 for programming and $99 for the unit...
