Default Offsets and Spacers

Could you guys confirm my question about offset? This concerns the stock 17" wheels which are 7.5" wide and have +30 offset.

I'm replacing it with a wheel with identical size and width, but the offset is +48.

If I understand offset correctly, that would be 48-30=18 -> and 18 millimeters is equal to 0.71 inches, so I would need a .75 inch spacer? Forgive me if I've butchered this. I'm not exactly a wheel and tire guru.

IMO FWD wheels don't ever belong on a Z but its your car so don't mind me...

but yes, an 18-25mm spacer will make your wheels sit at the sunken stock fitment

If you wanted them to be semi-flush (as flush as possible with stock, un-rolled fenders,) you'd need:

a 50mm spacer in the front

and a 60mm spacer in the rear

You bastically need to make up 18mm to have the new wheel's face sit at the same spot as the old one. Going up to 25mm will push the face of the wheel out 7mm for a flush look.

a 50mm Spacer would probably put the face of the wheel about 15-20mms out past the fender well.

No it won't

If a 19x9.5 +22 is flush

9.5-7.5/2=1inch=25.4mm

Thats the difference in distance of the outer lip (not accounting for offset change)

So a 7.5 wide rim needs to be -3.4mm offest for the outer lip to sit in the same spot (22-25.4=-3.4)

a 7.5 wide +48 wheel would need a 50mm spacer to be -2

EDIT: edited for tact

Are you Certain? Most folks that run a +20 Offset are pretty much flush?

Don't do it! I've been looking into offsets and spacers a lot lately, as you know, and that is simply the wrong size wheel for the Z. Spacers will cost you an extra $300 in those sizes...not worth it.

Okay, it sounds like I have the size of the spacer correct. That seems to be confirmed... but $300!? They cost that much?

All I need is 2 spacers for the front wheels. I simply must have 17x7.5 wheels on the front, and the wheels must be light weight (otherwise why replace them). The only wheels I have found that fit the bill are the Enkei RPF1. The only 17x7.5 they make is offset +48. What's the closest size spacer they make to 18mm? Does it really cost that much $$$?

I need this setup to remian in B Stock autocross by the way.

Good spacers will cost around 150 a pair (editpps). They will be more if you NEED 18mm because that is a custom size.

There are other light wheels in non-honduh sizes you can use:
-Volk TE-37s in 17x7.5 +30
-Volk CE-28Ns in 17x7.5 +33

if you can get away with running 7in or 8in wide wheels you could use:
-5Zigen FN-01Rc's in 17x7 +35 or 17x8 +25
-Work Emotion CR-Kais in 17x7 +32 or 17x8 +32 or +25

Those are just the first few that came to mind...

Volk? I don't have a $2K (or more) wheel budget The Enkeis will cost less than a grand, including shipping!

The 5Zigens are great. I'd buy them in a flash, but no 7.5" size available. Any other wheel suggestions? I don't really care what they look like as long as the specs are right, and they weigh less than 18 pounds a piece.

Or **** it, maybe the guy from above is right, and I should just keep my 24 pound stock wheels.

We do have aluminum hubcentric wheel spacer.

It's $59-$129 depend on the size you need.

If the wheels do not fit the 350Z, maybe they were not made with the car in mind. Why not buy wheels that do fit properly.

Thats not necissarily the case, I have seen several nice wheels that just dont have the right parameters to fit the Z's offset as is. Not everyone wants the lip either. My MOMO 18x8s only came in +42 offset. So I went ahead bought 4 H&R 25mm Spacers to make them fit they way I wanted.

Shouldnt you be able to get away with 18's when a different trim of the 350z came with 18's? What about 350z track wheels?

Oops, thought you needed them on both front and back. Check out the Enkei NTO3...comes in a 35 offset and nearly as light as the RPF1s.

Edit: Whoops...not in our bolt pattern they don't!

That's funny...I just bought his track wheels. They are really strict, you must run what came on your model stock.

Believe me, I found this out the hard way. The answer is no. I just sold my Track wheels to 350Zenophile. Gotta be 17's.

What about Volk TE37's -- 17x9.5 +22 front and 17x10 +18 rear ?

The Enkei's are hot!!! My TE37's 19x10.5 with 275/35/19 were 49.5lbs.
