Default Kosei Rims

I'm really into the weight savings aspect of rims, I'm also big on autocross, so I came across these rims, 17 pounds each, cast. All wheels are 18 by 8 around. The brand is kosei and the bodel is K1 TS. They cost like 300 dollars per wheel so I was wondering if these wheels were good quality wise because i dont wanna get stuck with cheap rims that'll bend and break on me.

I am surprised that any cast 18 inch wheel weighs only 17 pounds. Are you certain about the weight?

The quality of kosei rims is good..... but a weight of 17 pounds seems to me too low....

BTW there are street wheels and competition only wheels. 99 percent of the wheels that we talk about are street wheels. Street wheels are suitable for autocross. Competition only wheels are not suitable for the street.

Wheel damage on the street is more common than competition damage. Keep in mind that a fat *** 50-series tire offers more wheel protection than a 30-series tire.

Those Kosei wheels are good quality. They're not going to be as tough as a heavier or a forged wheel though.

yes, im pretty certain about the weight, i asked the guy at tirerack on the phone, 2 people and both of them said the same thing. I'm paying 200 per wheel because im buying them off someone who is selling their car. Also, I think 17 pounds is insane compared to my 26 pound stock 18" rims, I mean isnt it like 1 pound off rotational weight is like 10 pounds of curb weight? Or am I mistaken? Also, I dont want to change the topic of this thread, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the lightest brake kit out there is for our cars?

Some people say that 1lb of rotational weight = 10hp. It doesn't help you gain anything but theres less mass to get moving and keep moving, so its more like they free up horses. And I definately notice the weight savings on my car: Spare tire makes alot of difference.

Kosei's are very popular for auto-x, though I have never seen them on a 350Z before so post some pics up when u get em.

by that Logic, You would gain 400hp by shedding 20lbs off each wheel running 13" wheels.

Maybe .5hp or 1hp..
