Lifetime Alignment = cure for tire feathering?
My local firestone has lifetime alignments for $140...I currently have one registered to my nissan maxima...the deal is pretty great, considering I went in many times already with my coilovers (I messed with the settings alot )
So I'm thinking of picking up a Z...and registering it to the firestone lifetime system...will going in every 6 months keep my tires in great condition? I would like to get feedback from all those Z owners who have the lifetime...and how your tires are holding up, even with the lifetime...thanks!
And please post up your suspension setup if you can!

Lot's of difference in alignments which adjust to somewhere in oem range and ALIGNMENTS which struggle for PERFECTION.........usually the exact midpoint of the range.
Easy to still be in range and have one tire going one way and the other tire in opposite direction at the extremes. All side to side specs must be identical with your weight in drivers seat........however you drive it the bulk of the time.
Sitting in the seat changes that sides camber and camber gain!
I usually pay $70 plus a $20 advance cash tip every 6 months to get a decent 4 wheel thrust alignment.......before after print out with thrust being reduced to 0.00.
Alignments won't solve heel toe feathering on directional tires, that requires 90 day rotations and reverse scrubbing of raised portions. Or just replacing tires every 8,000 miles. Isn't ultra performance exciting and fun!

I have firestone alignment on my 2003 Touring 6 speed Z with 19" Axis Hiros with no drop.
I've gotten about 5 alignments from them on the lifetime alignment plan. Works fine. I'd say its worth it. You can always go from one dealer to another to find one you location you like. They even print out a sheet showing the correction and previous specs.

I have been using lifet alignment warranty since 1990, had it on my Nissan Pathfinder, My 911, my 941I, and have always thought it was the best thing to have considering paying the price everytime. I also would take which every vehicle I had at the time in every 3 months, after all, it didn't cost nothing. My 360Z, I actually have a similar deal wilth it, i.e. don't pay nothing also. It's really worth it and Firestone is a good shop, I had it in Hawaii and here in CA. now. Always very, very, very satisfied with them. (Note: I've never had a feathering problem with the Z at all)

My tires were already balding when I got the alignment. I'd say the feathering was caused more by the stock bridgestones then they were by alignment.
They did do an alignment again after I replaced my back tires with Yokohama AVS es100's. By this time my car had 30K and by 38K my front tires were going bald anyways. I replaced the front next, but it was time for the stock tires to go anyways. At 48K my Yokos in the back were balding out. I put my 19's with Toyo T1R's on I did not get an alignment and 13k miles later my tires are fine and the tires look really good.
I highly recommend the Toyo T1R tire. It wears really well for a 280 tire.

Hmm intresting. I get my allignment at Just Tire and it costs about $79 and it's a 6month warrenty, BUT...if you lower, raise, or change your tires or wheels it will avoid the warrenty. Not sure if there are any Firestone shops around me (OC) but i will look into that.
If I change my wheels/tires and suspension and i will still be under the warrenty right?

I have a lifetime alignment at Evan's Tire.
Worth it if you ask me.
I've had the car in there a few times already, and each time it had a different suspension setup (coilovers, springs, camber arms).
