Default Several questions about wheel instalation

Okay, i picked up my Work XD9s today..but i have a few questions..

I need lugnuts... 1.25 X 12mm work..but I was told tapered. What does that mean?
I was looking at these
http://www.subydude.com/osc/product_...64dab8de88525f
or
http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/me...tegory_Code=L1

Will i need an alignment? ATM, ill be on stock ride height, but within a month or so, i'll be lowered on a mild drop using either RSR or Hotchki's springs which are about .75ish rear, .5ish front for hotchkis, unsure on RSR.

I searched for the lugnuts and didnt find a definative answer on the taper...

Z lug nuts are usually tapered at 60° as opposed to those that have flat bottoms. The stock lugs nuts are 12 x 1.25 so they might fit. Where you might run into a problem is the diameter of the nuts. A lot of aftermarket wheels have smaller openings so the stock 21mm (OD) lug nut won't fit, they use a 19mm lug nut. I don't think the taper will be as much an issue as the outside diameter of the nuts.

You won't need an alignment unless you drop your Z significantly, like 1" or more if I remember correctly.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the outside diameter of the lug nut itself, and that the ones you currently have may be too large to fit in the opening of the XD9. Also, tapered means that the base of the lug will have a tapered shape, versus one that is flat. I guess this helps ensure that everything is all centered and stuff.

I'm personally leaning towads the blue Work lugs--$125. Sorry, I didn't look at the ones you were looking at.

Also, for anyone out there, is there any reason to run a longer lug, say 1.5? Or are we fine running a 1.25?

Tahnks!!!

1.25 refers to the thread pitch on the studs, not the length of the lugs.

Like Dave said, the OEM lugs probably won't work but just about any of the aftermarket ones will. Just look for any "tuner" lugs and you should be fine. I have used Kyokugen and Gorilla without any issues. If you want quality lightweight ones, then you will have to pay for it. A couple of cheaper options for you:

are you using the OE lugs with your aftermarkt rims? The main problem that ppl are talking about is that the aftermarket wheels usualy have a smaller diameter opening for lugnuts...so the stock lugs may be a tight fit...if it's too tight, the socket used to tighten the lugs might not fit in, or if it does, it could scracth the rims. So, when you buy aftermarket lugs, they'll usually have a smaller diameter to allow for proper fitment.
